Happy Birthday roboticspacecase!

It’s @roboticspacecase‘s birthday today and I wrote something as a surprise for her! If you don’t know this person, she is amazing and wrote “Bite Me” on Ao3 and IT. IS. AWESOME! I recommend it!

In a quiet glade two boys sat on a wool blanket, surrounded by trees and stars.

“Three, two, one; I declare a thumb war.” They chorused, sitting in front of each other in the silent night. They began the playground game with a single minded determination to defeat the other they began to push and tickle each other. In was morphing into something else as they laughter began to fill the glade.

The blond young man shoved the other and they took a break to catch their breath, staring at the stars.

“Do you think that Mabel and Tad are going to look for us?”

“Nah.  They’re too busy… canoodling to- hey, hey, hey stop laughing Pine Tree!”

Dipper was laughing too hard to properly answer, holding his sides and started to snort. Once that started, he stopped covering his mouth with a horrified expression.

Bill merely smiled, taking Dipper’s hands in his own. “They’re too busy to deal with us. Which is good because we need some alone time.” He pulled his boyfriend up, ready for another thumb war.  “Wanna make this round interesting?”

“What do you have in mind?”

“The winner gets to ask a question; loser has to answer.”  Bill smirked.

“Fine.”

“Three, two, one; I declare a thumb war.” They chorused again.

Dipper won the first match. “Yes! So what’s your opinion of the last hundred years?”

“It was ok… the Seventies were a financial disaster; the Eighties were a fashion disaster… I preferred the Twenties and the Nineties. But I can’t complain of all the nice stuff I have now.”

“You mean the hot tub?”

“Yep.”

They went again, this time Bill was the victor.

“I won Pine Tree~ Do you have any irrational fears?”

Dipper sort of cleared his throat. “Muppets.”

“Pardon?”

“I… I’m scared of the Muppets.”

“Even the ones in Labyrinth?”

“Especially those.” Dipper socked Bill in the shoulder when the vampire started laughing uncontrollably. “Shut up!”

For the next half hour Dipper and Bill continued this game of asking questions after winning the thumb war. It ranged from silly questions to serious ones regarding their pasts.

The score and questions they had answered was tied and they were in a dead heat, throwing everything they had into this last match.

Bill won by illegal tickling and grinned like the Cheshire Cat. “Alright Pine Tree, fess up. You enjoyed our first kiss.”

Dipper wasn’t ready to answer that just yet and tried to pivot the conversation. “So uh… the stars are out huh…”

“You’re pivoting. Did. You. Enjoy. The. Kiss?” Bill leaned in close, making Dipper fall on his back with Bill caging him in. “I’m waiting Pine Tree.”

“Ok! Ok! I did. You could always use improvement though…”

“improvement!?” He snorted. “I’ll show you improvement!”

The kiss started out gentle, being mere pressure against lips, but it grew heated. In the cold autumn night both human and vampire clung to each other, letting the world and the problems that it brought with it melt away. They only broke away when Dipper started to punch Bill to let him breathe.

Under the light of the stars, Dipper looked fragile and beautiful. He seemed to either catch the light from the stars or he emanated the essence that made the stars. Whatever caused it, he was glowing and in this quiet moment Bill whispered something that was neither meant either one or was to be spoken out loud.

“I wish you lived forever.”

Dipper caressed his cheek, offering a small smile. “Maybe someday… Eternity with you sounds fun.”

Bill kissed him again.

Yeah… Maybe someday they could live together forever.
