CommandBase
So what am I currently working on?? I am currently working on my third year project CommandBase. Now I’m guessing (kinda hoping) you’re saying that's all well and good Rob but what is CommandBase and what did it look like?
So I’m not going to go into great detail as to what CommanBase, for that follow this link. The game is a turn based top down tactical combat strategy game (bit of a mouthful) influenced by XCOM if you’re familiar. If not basically the player controls their team of units through levels and have to eliminate the enemy team and or complete objectives.
CommandBase is themed in a fantasy setting where the story revolves around a medieval/fantasy based town. While this is relevant the game unfortunately doesn’t feature these story features yet. The original design of the game would feature missions that the player can choose to go on. However now the current idea to round the game off is to create a campaign that the player can experience.
As for how it looks and the changes, well the images in this post are high res screenshots from the game in a recent state (I cannot guarantee it’s current) that and a playable builds new and old are available here. I am currently working with artists Charlotte and Serena to create assets to bring into the game and give it more of an individual feel and look nicer. Here are a few concepts from them both:

I have also worked previously with some animators for more concept art that I will post below. I worked with Arwyn and Owain for character and other concept art during my third year of university. This early leadership of a small team gave me great experience for working artists and I would say has been a hugely positive outcome for the project overall.

CommandBase uses Unreal Engine 4 and an advanced tile tool kit that is available on the content marketplace courtesy of Knut Øverbye. Massive praise has to go to the man behind this amazing content that effectively builds the foundations that has already made many indie games possible. The content gets updates regularly and has a great amount of support direct from Knut.
