Quick rant that no one cares about incoming.

The obsurd amount of gatekeeping I’m seeing in the rock and metal scene has been absolutely ridiculous lately. Like damn. Fucking news flash if we don’t let artists grow and let the genre evolve then the scene and the genre we all love is gonna fucking fizzle out. And I’m sorry but that’s not something I wanna see happen. I think due to the big surge we are getting right now with new rock and metal stylings and hell MGK reviving 2000s pop punk vibes is fucking fantastic and really a breath of fresh air in the scenes however it’s also causing a lot of gatekeepers to pop up saying stupid shit to keep change from occurring and putting off new fans from joining. Of course the new wave of rock/metal/punk etc are gonna be different compared to the 70s, 80s, 90s, and earlier 2000s etc because hello we are in a whole new era! So of course there are gonna be new fans to music we have been listening to for years and guess what that is okay! We should be happy to see our artists grow and get more recognition for their talent. Don’t get me wrong I love jamming the old stuff all the time, but I’m also not STUCK in those times either. If you are gonna remain stuck in the old and shit on any new artist that comes up or get triggered because an old artist is trying something new or just evolving their already developed sound then you are the problem. If you are keeping people out of the scene just because they are new and are just getting into the genres you are the problem. You are why the scene is flatlining. Change is good so let it happen! Quit your gatekeeping and open your damn minds. There is no real formula to what makes a rock song a rock song or a metal song metal etc. It’s fine to dislike some artists you aren’t gonna like everything that pops up hell I know plenty of artists in the scenes who aren’t my cup of tea, however what’s not okay is to discredit those artists and their fans just because it’s different or not in your preferred taste. Diversity is a wonderful thing and music it self is multidimensional. Just let people enjoy things and be open to change! Gatekeeping isn’t sexy so get outta here with that shit.

Since seeing the 9 this past year, I've been seeing the point that Corey has been making for quite some time now. Rock has been damn near dead because of what monotone few we were given to believe to be the only rock options we have, and those are few and far between as it is.

But he's also been saying that there are some great acts that are just barely making it to the surface; some that are definitely worth a listen... BUT BEING COREY TAYLOR, HE WANTS TO BE ALL SAGE AND CRYPTIC.
