Chemical Formula: Mg6[(OH)8lSi4O10]; Basic magnesium silicate Crystal Structure: Monoclinic; microcrystalline Color: Green, yellowish, brown Hardness: 2.5 to 5.5 Refractive Index: 1.560 to 1.571 Density: 2.44 to 2.62 Cleavage: None Transparency: Semitransparent to opaque Double Refraction / Birefringence: 0.008 to 0.014 Luster: Greasy, waxy, silky Fluorescence: Weak; greenish (Williamsite)

Rock Info: Serpentine is a stone made up of a number of different minerals in order to make a certain formula ( (X)2-3(Y)2O5(OH)4 ), with X being a metal, magnesium, iron, nickle, alluminum, zinc, or maganese. Y will be sillicon, alluminum, or iron. Chrysotile, antigorite, and lizardite are the three main mineral properties of Serpentine, but there are many more to be found. Serpentine is also a source for Asbestos.

Metaphysical Properties: This stone is an exceptional meditation stone, helping to bring about inner peace and clarity within ones self. Serpentine is also good as dispelling evil and darkness from ones person and protecting that person from negativity, and the better Serpantine stones for this will be the darker colored ones. However, no matter the Serpentine color or shade, all Serpentine will bring you so much inner peace and clarity that negativity will have a hard time being able to get to you.

Physical Healing: This is a stone good for assisting in the regeneration of cellular health and in replenishing energy. The heart and lungs in another place this stone is known for helping with, especially in keeping them strong and healthy. It can also help those with diabetes, and with parasites. Magnesium and calcium absorbtion is also easier with this and other Serpentine Stones. its also good for mestration if that happens to be something you have more issues with as well.

Water Safety: Because of the likelyhood of your Serpentine having some formation of metal (magnesium, iron, nickle, alluminum, zinc, or manganese) as well as Asbestos, I would avoid water for the most part, especially when it comes to stone elixers.

How to Cleanse: Because of the properties ofthe minerals and rock substance, I woudl avoid water. I, personally, would go for the moonlight approach. Plant heat lamps would do a quicker, powerful job at well.

Serpentine I Have: Asterite Serpentine (Darker green stone with the beautiful crackling and dapples of either dark green or brown and hints of greenish yellow) / Serpentine (the semi-transparent pale green stone with a darker greenish brown bottom. *Please note that crystals and stones are not the end all be all to physical ailments, please visit your doctor and get treatment if you’re sick. Stones are just meant to help and assist in the healing process.
