Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate DLC character Kaho Shibuya announced - Gematsu

Rocket Panda Games has announced Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate downloadable content character Kaho Shibuya, based on the real-life Japanese pop culture personality and cosplayer. A release date was not announced.

“My favorite game genre has always been 2D side-scrolling beat ’em ups, so to be in such a game as a menacingly strong [downloadable content] character is a dream come true,” said Kaho Shibuya in a press release. “This playable Kaho is an amalgamation of a magical girl and a baker—prismatic and sweet. Regarding the former, of course it’s every girl’s fantasy, especially when you grew up watching anime like Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, and Madoka Magica. For the latter, I wanted a unique weapon to stand out, and thought of a baguette as a weapon first, which was inspired from some of my favorite games. This character is from all my nerdy thoughts, and I hope you enjoy beating up enemies with it.”

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. To celebrate the downloadable content announcement, the game will soon be on sale for the first time ever across all digital storefronts.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate delayed to April 17 - Gematsu

Rocket Panda Games has delayed 2D side-scrolling action game Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate from its previously planned February 13 release date to April 17. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store for $24.99.

To all of our fans, supporters, and beloved Phantom Breaker community, The release date for Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate, originally scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025, has been postponed to Thursday, April 17, 2025. First and foremost, we want to extend our sincerest apologies to you-everyone eagerly awaiting the game’s release. While the single-player experience is nearly complete, we encountered unforeseen delays with the implementation and testing of the online modes. Enabling online cross-play multiplayer across all platforms (Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch) is an incredibly challenging feature, but we’re committed to our mission of letting our awesome fans play together at launch. Rocket Panda Games has announced Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate, a remastered version of the side-scrolling beat ’em up game rebuilt from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2024 worldwide.

Story

A mysterious man known as the Phantom has awakened and hatches a plan to unseal his dark powers. By giving ancient weapons known as the F.A. (Fu-mension Artifacts) to youths with special abilities, he convinces them to battle each other with the promise to grant the wishes of the victors. However, each time the Fu-mension Artifacts are used in battle, they create a rift between parallel worlds, which will inevitably unseal the Phantom’s powers. Waka, the daughter of the Kumon Family, a clan tasked with protecting the world from the Phantom, and her friend Mikoto, attempt to stop him. However, in an alternate timeline the Phantom manages to escape and kidnaps Waka’s younger sister, Nagi. Waka and Mikoto, along with Itsuki, self-proclaimed “Arbiter of Justice” and Yuzuha, a ninja unpersuaded by the lure of the Phantom, set off to rescue Nagi and stop his nefarious plan.

Story

A mysterious man, known only as “Phantom” appeared in Tokyo—the capital city of Japan—and manipulated vulnerable adolescents into fighting each other, bestowing upon them mystical weapons of great strength known as “Fu-mension Artifacts.” In exchange, he promised to grant their wish if they survive.

Unbeknownst to the combatants, the fierce clashes between Fu-mension Artifacts caused distortions in space-time, which compromised the boundaries between parallel universes. The collapse of these parallel universes would ultimately break the seal, unleashing Phantom’s destructive powers.
