also, congrats for getting recognized for your skill etc but yikes, that is some anxiety-inducing tactics from them, wow.
nnnh, I want to be fair. my accounting of the situation is likely very influenced by the fact that I already have anxiety. the people are objectively lovely and very much want to see us succeed and provide a platform where both parties can benefit.
I’m still a bit growly over them not paying me. but, fuck it, it’s an unpaid internship, basically. are they skeezy? yep. is it doing the thing where suddenly you have Not Intern responsibilities at intern not-pay? yep. do I have any platform to push back whatsoever? nope. I can’t quit this, or I lose my benefits. The only thing I can do is get another job, and tbh a lot of aspects of this program are... nice, for the anxiety!brain. a) who gives a shit if I fail, it’s work for the dole. b) who gives a shit if I slack off from time to time, it’s work for the dole. c) ...you get the picture.
It’s not ideal. I’d like to be earning money with my apparently excellent skillset. But at the same time... if they don’t buy me, they can’t complain that they didn’t get what they paid for.
