Blender Knight‘s punchline portrait was too cute to ignore.
I decided to do another belated gift to @plagueofgripes involving his Scary Lessons project. My search parsing found no official or unofficial color patterns, so this is just my interpretation with general inspiration from several depictions.
I was drawn to her “Check out my wings” expression so I surmised that she could be showing off the translucency that allows camouflage on the back while matching the sky on the inside.
Forgot the link to the lines HERE
Always wanted to try that effect with Venetian blinds in dimly lit room. When @theartistknownasbb drew Futaba, I saw an excellent opportunity. Definitely worked out a system for this, but I need to keep practicing. Original lines HERE
@excelsioryuken likes to box. This is my first attempt at digital painting, A to Z. Suddenly having to handle both anatomy and color has dramatically increased my respect for those who do both. “Shoulders of giants” and so on.
@lil-area-sfw is the Mystique of illustration styles. Likewise, the best way for me to learn digital color techniques is to imitate new styles. Sampling her already massive archive of styles, I tried some quirks from Mike Mignola, Rui Komatsuzaki, and Jamie Hewlett.
@astrozerk / @art-of-astrozerk made an entire music video combining The Flight of the Conchords and Team Skull. Honestly, any panel is great, but I picked the grunt calling up her friends. Her friends are jerks. Enjoy the original video HERE.
@lil-area-sfw made a Death Note keikaku gag. Her bubbly personality contrasted to Light Yagami amused me, so I filled in the line art based on that infamous screenshot and got permission to post the result.
For some reason, I can’t upload pictures right now, so here’s a low-res and a link to my severely under-followed twitter with my new project. https://twitter.com/RockyRoad_SFW/status/1085129223717687296 So, pre-tumblr-purge, this might have gone to my side blog, but it’s still safe enough, so here’s what I’ve done with @teevotime ‘s illustration of an evil Palutena from Smash Bros / Kid Icarus. I lose track of the time it takes because I tend to stream something while I do this, but this took three night sessions. The second night featured a crash that cost me the tongue, the collar, and the chain.
