the funniest part of middlegame was when roger and dodger were like OH MY GOD AHHHHHH WE’VE BEEN RESETTING THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE THOUSAND AND THOUSANDS OF TIMES AHHHHHHHH and then dodger finds the version where she just got fuckin pancaked by a car at aged 5 and never came out of her coma from it
the second funniest part was where Reed got told one of the cuckoo children asked their family to go to disney world and was immediately like “sounds like a dastardly fucking SCHEME to me”
Does anyone else kind of picture Roger and Dodger as Skeeter and Scooter from The Muppet Babies?
Amber Benson’s Dodger voice really accentuates this, for what it’s worth.
I appreciate that Roger has approximately 2 problem-solving modes:
ignore it for 7 years, until his girlfriend drags him out of bed in the middle of the night and literally sets the house on fire
tell it “You’re not real” and shoot it in the face
meanwhile Dodger is over here like, “ah, time for my old comfort zone, emotional isolation. If anyone tries anything fishy, I’ll simply render them unconscious with the nearest conveniently throwable object, and move on.”
Magic has been lessened. The age of miracles has been ground to a powder by the twinned stones of caution and rationality.

allcassandrasareright I gotta say, I did a research project once that involved tracking academic citations, as an example of tribalism in arguments and increasing trends of polarization in society, and I’m not saying crackpot, but I still remember Middleton as being the far end of the bell curve, in terms of pretty much only being cited positively by people who probably literally interacted with him irl. So either I’m saying (persuasive?) crackpot, or, as of last spring at least, I’m saying localized mind control exclusively with regards to weird theories of translating, like, ancient greek
