For that fic ask thing FWNL 4 and 8. :D Your fics are lovely btw.
Aww, thank you!
What part of the fic was the hardest for me to write?
Definitely the fight scene between Peggy and Bucky where Peggy gets stabbed. It can be hard for me to even read scenes like that, let alone write it. But the story demanded it - I wanted to show that there were real, high-stakes consequences to Peggy’s overconfidence, and to her acting out of anger.
Was there anything I only learned about the fic after I had finished it? (themes, motifs, symbolism, etc)
I don’t know about themes or symbolism, but the one piece that held me up for a long time was Bucky. I couldn’t decide on how to best wrap up that piece of the story, and I didn’t want Bucky’s story to overshadow Peggy’s. So I cut a chapter that I had originally started that covered the fate of Bucky, and just went straight into the wedding.
Eventually I went back and finished that chapter, and posted it on its own as Open Season on Broken Hearts. Personally, I think it’s some of the best writing in the whole extended FWNL-verse.
Fic meme!
