hi just wanted to come on here and say that having headcanons for characters shouldn’t be an issue unless ur whitewashing a character or taking away important features

this is mainly about roger from lotf but can also go for simon too

i know a lot of people headcanon roger as loads of different things, same with simon since it’s never explicitly stated in the book but can i just say i received a very unkind message the other day cussing me out in my dms and calling me slurs because i drew roger with straight hair

i did not whitewash roger at all and i personally headcanon him as bengali so i drew him with dark brown skin and thick black hair. this person messaged me saying “if you’re going to make roger a (n word) at least make him look like one” and then preceded to call me a stupid bitch and basically just cussed me out and called me the n word a bunch of times

i won’t name names i just blocked them and moved on but if you have an alt or something and see this u know who u are

hi i’d just like to give an opinion on this new bbc lord of the flies series

movie makers have had THREE tries now to get the characters to look canon and still failed

this is one of the biggest problems i have with it but STILL simon and roger are being played by probably the whitest kids they could find. i’ve said this once and ill say it again roger is CANONICALLY a poc. “the swarthiness of his skin” swarthy = dark complexioned. and i think simon not being white is quite important to his character (my opinion) as he resembles christ and christ himself was middle eastern. it’s 2025 now and there are so many young talented poc actors out there they could’ve chosen. what also annoys me and DO NOT take this the wrong way is that ralph is a poc but the characters that are canonically poc aren’t. I DO NOT have an issue with ralph being a poc it’s just the fact he is canonically white whereas the characters that are canonically not white are. ralph’s blonde hair was quite important as it was the first thing described about him - “fair hair” - and the word fair was also used to foreshadow him being a fair leader.

less important i guess but jack is also played by a conventionally attractive blonde guy 💔 this kid look exactly how i envisioned ralph to look. jack is supposed to be ugly and ginger and freckly with MENACING pleasegetbrowncontactsyourescaringme blue eyes.
