Lately I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with everything. I am in my last year of undergrad and trying to stay on my school work, make art, run a label and write for this blog, so I apologize for my lack of posting but I found some time tonight to post about the new additions to the Rok Lok Singles Club.
As you may know from reading this blog in the past the Rok Lok Singles Club is this really badass thing that the good folks at Rok Lok do to get you addicted to collecting tapes and catch glimpses of quality musicians around the globe. Seriously, at times I can’t get over how good the selection on this Singles Club thing is.
Either way this newest set of singles is just as good as the past selections. The sixth addition to the club is Mike Naideau who is a member of Giant Peach that band that makes really good pop punk from Long Island! This tape isn’t too different from Naideau’s work in Giant Peach besides the fact that the songwriting is a bit stranger, and less linear. I like it a lot!
For the seventh tape we have a little over four pieces from Kent State (Nicholas Vance). These songs are strong and remind me of 90’s sub pop stuff, a real early Seattle vibe. It’s all real nice and does well paired with the work of Naideau as it is a bit more aggressive but definitely not too hard.
So there you have it folks the latest installment in the singles clubs is off the chain! Get on this stuff ya’ll!
