Tap, tap, tap...
Her fingers rapped against the table as she desperately tried to still her body and mind. Juliette’s eyes were closed, her cheeks flushed pink and her back stiff. The world was hurling itself around the sun just a little too fast that day, fast enough that she swore it was giving her the dizzy feeling that was wrapping around her. Or maybe, just maybe, that was her applying denial to everything that was her feelings.
Bright eyes shot open at the sound of familiar footfalls. There he was, brilliant eyes and a smile that could warm through the coldest nights. Juliette’s affection was its own entity, an aura that she feared was as blinding as staring into the sun.
What had changed?
Why fear him now any more than ever?
Was it him she feared, or reality?
Juliette gritted her teeth. The chair’s legs dragged across the floor as she stood, her bare feet hitting the hardwood with each step towards him.
Her voice shook more than usual, her accent hanging thick on each word like it was intending to yank them out of recognition. The perks (if perk meant aggravating effects) of being mute for so long showed each time she spoke to him. Today it was just thicker than usual.
“Jihyun,” his name came off of her tongue, natural and affectionate. Juliette fussed with her dress.
“How...do you tell someone you love them? Without...scaring them.”
She swallowed hard, her throat suddenly dry.
“In a way that tells them that it is okay to...not reciprocate.”
Her legs shook under her. She did not want to lose him. Not now. Not when she finally felt...
“I just want him to know. To know, to hold onto when it gets dark and the world seems...too big.”
@somehumerusbones liked for a starter.
“Humans can be awful creatures with no soul. I am so sorry you have encountered them in that context. I have, as well.”
Her gaze shifted.
“They are so wiling to turn on their own kind, it does not surprise me they do the same to those of another species.”
The wind in the trees sounds like the ocean tides, and due to it being the dark hours, he’s not sure what’s out there anymore.
// hey guys, wassup?
