Jumin had suspected that his friend had lost interest in the documentary some time ago but was being too polite to say anything. However, it was only after he felt the weight of his friend’s head on his shoulder that Jumin realized something was truly wrong.
Jumin’s momentary panic disappeared as soon as he noticed his friend’s deep even breaths which, almost as soon as Jumin started to pay attention, were punctuated with a soft snore. Jihyun had absolutely fallen asleep and was now using Jumin as a pillow.
Perhaps he should have been annoyed that his friend didn’t bother to say anything or that he was so rude to just fall asleep like this. However, whatever he should have felt at that moment, Jumin couldn’t help but smile. He tried to understand why he couldn’t seem to tear the smile off of his face. Maybe it was something about Jihyun being too polite to excuse himself to go to bed, or the fact that he clearly trusted Jumin enough to fall asleep on top of him.
Forgetting about the documentary, Jumin turned his head as much as he could without disturbing the man sleeping on his shoulder. Jihyun looked so innocent and unguarded in that moment.
Jumin could smell Jihyun’s shampoo. It was a familiar scent, and there was something about it that Jumin found terribly endearing. Perhaps it was the familiarity of it or the way that Jihyun had begun to care for himself and take pride in his appearance while not becoming vain or preoccupied with superficial appearances like so many people around Jumin were. Still, underneath that scent was something else, a smell that Jumin knew all too well was the scent of his dearest friend. Without thinking, Jumin moved his face closer to Jihyun in an effort to get more of that scent.
Suddenly, Jumin was becoming keenly aware of the feel of Jihyun’s body beside him. He could feel Jihyun’s warmth against his arm and suddenly every place they touched started to feel tingly.
Jumin had moved close enough that he could feel strands of Jihyun’s hair brushing against his cheek. He could hear the other man’s soft breath and that drew his attention to Jihyun’s lips. Jumin had never noticed how inviting those lips looked and Jumin’s tongue moved over his own lips without realizing it.
Without thinking, Jumin lowered his head and planted a small, gentle kiss on Jihyun’s forehead.
As soon as he’d done it, it was as if Jumin snapped back to his reality and the floor had fallen out from under him. What had he done?! What had he done?! He felt as if he had done something terrible to his dearest friend. Jihyun trusted him enough to fall asleep beside him and Jumin did this to him?!
Jumin suddenly felt dizzy and his blood ran cold but that coldness only caused him to feel Jihyun’s warmth more keenly and to make him crave it more. He rubbed the hand further away from his friend over his face to try to clear his mind. His heart was racing and even after rubbing his face, his lips still remembered the feel of Jihyun’s skin beneath them. He felt the almost overwhelming urge to pull Jihyun against his chest and capture his lips. Jumin had never had these kinds of thoughts before he didn’t understand why he was feeling this way now. Why was he suddenly reacting this way and why couldn’t he get a grip on himself?
