Okay people make fun of Cinderella movies for prince charming never being able to figure out who Cinderella is when she's out of the ballgown, but when I dressed up for prom in an outfit different to my usual wine-aunt-cat-lady-do-not-give-a-fuck vibe my own friends didn't recognise me for a couple minutes, let alone the guy I danced with and kissed who when I saw a month later around college and did not have one ounce of recognition for me

I have to confess something dragon age related, but I don't have anyone else to yell this at. I romanced Alistair in my very first DA:O playthrough, but I didn't know he would leave the party if I spared Logain. My Cousland gave his vote for Anora and genuinely thought he was doing what's best for Fereldan, but he just ended up disappointing everyone, losing his bf and also his entire will to live. Legit wanted to cry when this happened lmao.

Oh boy, I can imagine that this was a very alarming and crude awakening to the world of Dragon Age! I actually had a similar experience in my first playthrough! I was a f!surana in a romance with Alistair, and at the time I thought he was what was best for Ferelden, so I made him King, and well we know how that story goes. I legitimately was so hurt I restarted the game immediately!

I read on some sort of walkthrough on the internet that he would allow you to be his “mistress” if you harden him, so I made myself another elf mage and gave romancing him another go.

Only “hardening” did not mean what my gremlin of a teenage mind thought it meant and LO AND BEHOLD I made him king and he dumped me again.

Needless to say, I eventually figured it out. I’ve never officially spared Loghain myself, although I have in fic. I feel like that might even be harder to cope with than the Royal dumpage.

Thank you for sharing this with me. I’m always happy to receive rants (and raves) about Alistair... or anything really. It gives me a chance to rant back ;D
