Petition to make the men of Interstellar as pathetic as possible
I never want any interstellar spinoffs or sequels BUT IF I HAD TO HAVE ONE it would 1000% be about Romillys 23 years of isolation and it would have to also be a ‘Solaris’ adaption.
I want there to be a light hearted montage of him filling the time, I want the funny music to slowly die away as he counts the hours. I want him to pull a ‘Solaris’ and doing complicated math equations over and over to determine when he’s dreaming and when he’s awake. I want there to be hallucinations of the past he’s running from, because a normal person doesn’t go to space to die like he did. I want us to piece together his past through hallucinations of people on the ship, NO FLASH BACKS!!!
I want the last quarter of the movie to be a series of him thinking everyone finally came back, ONLY FOR WES BENTLYS CHARACTER TO BE THERE TOO. BECAUSE ROMILLY DOESNT KNOW HE DIED ON MILLERS PLANET. SO THE AUDIENCE KNOWS ITS FAKE BUT ROMILLY DOESNT. I WANT A VERSION OF THIS TOO REPEAT. I WANT US TO BE JUST AS UNTRUSTING OF REALITY AS HE IS.
I WANT HIM AND TARS TO GROW A RELATIONSHIP THAT MAKES US REALLY WONDER HOW MUCH A COMPUTER CAN BE A PERSON.
