17/02/2025-Alder and birch, Mute Swan, bulrush, gorgeous Great White Egret and dandelion at Fishlake Meadows and hazel catkins, view and Lesser Black-backed Gull at Lakeside Country Park on a brilliant day off in nature.

At Fishlake Meadows Bullfinch, Mistle Thrush, Marsh Harrier, Pochard, Water Rails heard, King Alfred's Cake mushrooms and cleavers were other highlights with my first snowflakes of the year, Buzzard, Firecrest, Redwings, Blackbird and Great Crested Grebe and chicks also good to see at Lakeside. Petty spurge, Feral Pigeon and Starlings were good to see at home.

Autumn colour at Sir Harold Hillier Arboretum near Romsey

Beautiful displays of leaf colour and seeds especially a superb Spindle tree and the flowers in the big herbaceous borders offer late flowers too..Asters now renamed but I always call them Michaelmas Daisies anyway. Verbena, Dahlias and Kaffir Lilies with the red leaf of the banana plants offer fine contrast. To cap it all we were told that our latest granddaughter has arrived so will raise a glass this evening to Olwen.
