How their parents were/are
I’m banging out posts right now and I’m pretty sure it’s me trying to put off revision for as long as possible askdjak
Thom
Mum: I don’t think he’s very close to his mum. I imagine her (and her new husband ) to be quite religious and probably make digs at him about being gay without explicitly being homophobic. For that reason, he doesn’t want to see her much
Dad: on the other hand, he is very close to his dad. His dad had main custody over him after the divorce and was always supportive of him. Even when Thom was being a little shit getting into fights and drinking with his friends, he was always calm and understanding with him <3
Mel
Mum: she’s definitely a very loving and kind woman but she definitely frustrates him sometimes. She’s really quite protective over him (after his experience with bullying in school). I agree with you Nicco - she definitely nags him about when he’ll propose to Gretta and have children etc
Dad: his dad was very special to him. They did everything together and Mel looked up to him. He died suddenly when Mel was about to leave for university and Mel was completely distraught
Peter
Mum: she is so proud of him for growing up to be as successful as he is. They don’t go 3 days without talking and Peter tries to visits her once every month. She adores Thom and was so happy to find out they were dating <3
Dad: his dad drank and hated his mum. They fought all the time and if he wasn’t fighting with his mum, he was fighting with Peter. He left before Peter went to university which forced him to stay an extra year to help stabilise him mum. He never forgave him for that
Lincoln (I know it tells us a little bit about them but I can’t remember 😔)
Mum: she was really sweet and Lincoln loved her dearly. She died just before his accident and he was devastated that she wasn’t there for him after. She was quite like Thom in the sense that no matter his protests, she would always look after him
Dad: his dad was also a scientist and was the one to spark his passion for chemistry - they’d always do experiments at home. He’d take him to the lab and show him how to use all of the equipment. He died not long after Lincoln’s mum
Amelia (It also tells us about her mum but I can’t remember much either)
Mum: she always wanted Amelia to be a model and when she decided to join the police she desperately tried to convince her otherwise. She didn’t like Lincoln when she first met him but he warmed on her. Her and Amelia had a rocky relationship but it’s steadily improving
Dad: she absolutely adored her dad. He would take her to fix up cars, on long and fast drives and to the shooting range - memories of doing stuff with her dad are some of the happiest. He had a very similar sense of humour to Lincoln so they would’ve gotten along really well
Ron
Mum: his mum was strict but fair. She would get Ron and Tony mixed up - they definitely took the fall for each other so many times askdjak. I feel like she always baked with them and she definitely cooked the best food 😫
Dad: he was busy with work a lot and wasn’t always there but when he was there he sure as hell made up for it. He was super playful and definitely joked around with them a lot. He was a ‘don’t tell your mum’ dad
Lon
Mum: she, like Mel’s mum, always refers to Lon by his full name (Lorenzo 😭). He hates it but he laughs it off. She baked a lot and Thom’s pastries remind him of her. She passed away a while ago and he still really misses her - he has lots pictures of her all around his house <3
Dad: his dad was so chill. They both look very similar. His dad is still alive but is really old and lives in a care home close to Lon’s house. One of Lon’s happiest memories is his dad teaching him how to ride his bike
Roland
Mum: his mum died when he was very young and he barely remembers her - he wishes he’d gotten the chance to know her
Dad: he became depressed after Roland’s mum died and neglected Roland because of this. He recovered but the damage was done to Roland - he has a grudge against his dad and limits contact with him. Roland vowed never to neglect his kids and he turned out being the best dad ever <33
