It’s sickening to me with the lack of support, care and aid that strategically skips over certain neighborhoods in your city. As of Friday, November 10, 2017, there has been 604 homicides in Chicago. In creating this piece it is my intention to re-start the conversation and raise much needed awareness. As the great Nina Simone once said “As an artist, it’s our duty to reflect the times”. Hence the reason I used this popular sneaker originally created for Micheal Jordan of the Chicago Bulls to convey this message. I’m no way shape or form am I taking shots or calling out Virgil Abloh, Nike or Jordan. (Had to add that disclaimer because someone I shared the image with prior asked that question).
