Ron Stewart wasn’t known for flashy scoring nights but on December 8, 1954, he delivered one to remember.
Playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Stewart scored all three goals in a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, recording the only hat trick of his 21-year NHL career.
After Montreal opened the scoring, Stewart took control, netting one goal in each period, including the game-winner, to power Toronto to victory.
Despite finishing with 276 career goals, this would stand as his lone three-goal game, a rare and memorable night for one of the league’s most steady and dependable players.
