Look what my spouse got me for my birthday!!!!
And I already have a "Red Lyrium" lamp, too 😂😂😂
I completely forgot I'd ordered Rook's Coffer when it went on sale a while back, and it was delivered this week. Everything in it is so silly, but I really love it & it makes me smile.
(With a bonus of Bianca getting dangerously close! You'll get broken right in half, watch out!)
Rook's Coffer potion bottle customisation
So one of my favourite things in the Dragon Age the Veilguard Rook's Coffer collection, apart from the stunning dagger is the health potion bottle. The attention to detail in it is amazing - heavy glass, with a metal decoration and practical stopper. It could be used if you so choose though i would never for fear of breaking it. But there was no real way to display it. It just came in a plastic bag. So i decided to do something about that and make it look like it was hovering ready to be imbibed.
BEHOLD!
One Ikea display dome, XL crystal holder off aliexpress and light base later, plus some green bodywash to fill said bottle and viola!
Only thing i might do is swop out the black dome base for the gold one Ikea do, buff the light so it's more diffused and get the acrylic crystal display base cut into a circle if i can. Otherwise im really happy with it and it looks so good from afar!
I just my coffer and I am so happy. This is the first collector's thing I've ever owned for something I love. I truly am just so happy and cannot wait to return to Thedas
Yeaaah I bought it... I'm weak...
And I'm m not even sorry this is cool as fuck!!!!
Best birthday gift I could've bought myself.
listen i Get why people don't want to pre-order games and 100% agree that its bad for game companies to assume things will sell based on name vs content/execution or not wanting to support bioware after the sudden layoffs + denying severance employees were entitled to, all of this i agree with, 100%
but i have seen like 6 separate posts saying "LOOK HOW ABSURD THE ROOK'S COFFER PERK IS, $150 AND IT DOESN'T EVEN COME WITH THE GAME, IT'S INSANE WHAT GAME COMPANIES EVEN DO THESE DAYS" and like that is just completely missing the point
you can absolutely buy versions of it with the game from other retailers like gamestop, for $150+game cost ($60) just not from bioware itself, because
they are offering it sans-game as a way for PC players or people who want to play ASAP and plan to download/pre-load to play right on release to still get the physical merch perks, because
either it is NOT going to ship and arrive in time from bioware for people who want to play right on release, or they can ship it early and not worry about accidentally pre-releasing it to same fans, plus
THE COST WITHOUT THE GAME IS EXACTLY COMPARABLE TO THE DA: INQUISITION COLLECTOR'S EDITION PHYSICAL BUNDLE IN 2015. That one was $200 for the game+physical merch like the tarot deck, a notebook, some coins, quill & inkpot, etc. If you add the game cost here it would be $210 for both the coffer and digital copy of the game. That's only a $10 increase in price from the 2014 cost of the last game which is barely even covering inflation over the DECADE since then
Like, yes, I am sure it cost less to make the items in Rook's Coffer than they are selling it, that is how selling anything works. But claiming that this is entirely out of line with industry standards and a greedy move by the company is like... ok, well, yes. The company exists to make money. They offer extra perks for people who really like the content and want to pay for it, that's... how most fan-based services work. You can dislike it and not buy it! That's everyone's choice and I honestly don't disagree! But kinda wild to see all these "what an audacious move and so unlike anything released in the past" posts for something that is absolutely standard and normal is kind of silly
I wonder if I can use this to tear down the Veil?
And if that goes wrong like it did for a certain Wolf... at least I've got the right weapon to smite a pair of Elven gods with. XD
