For the reading asks! 8. Do you judge a book by its cover? and 9. How do you store and organise your books?
Thanks @rooshappy! <3
8 - Totally. Although I’m not fussy, if a cover is too dull I won’t pick it up to read the blurb. I’m drawn to brighter colours, pretty covers, and if it features plants that pulls me in, I think just because I like green. Although I noticed from my goodreads year in review that I started off last year in a very ‘blue’ phase and finished in ‘hot pink’ :D I’m guilty of being a bit down on film tie-in covers too - some internal snobbery there, even though occasionally (cough The Notebook cough) the film surpasses the book.
9 - Haphazardly, is perhaps the best way to describe it. I have one proper bookcase, a couple of other shelves, then everything else is piled up getting in the way. I even have a bag for life full of books which my parents deposited with me to get out of their house, and I haven’t yet decanted. I don’t organise - no alphabetising, no colour wheel, not even genre groupings - although authors will generally have their works in the same place. Other than that it’s all done on memory. I have a reasonable visual memory, so can normally picture where the book I want is. There’s a vague atom of order in that books I’ve read are more likely to be properly shelved, with TBRs stacked in front.
