Fun angst prompt for you. Reader who is newly joined into the life of a pirate dealing with guilt from killing someone for the first time, maybe confessing feelings to someone close to them on the crew (your choice).
I thought I'd do it as headcannons and with some of the straw hats! I hope that's ok!
Zoro
- Zoro has alot of kills under his belt and he's probably the best person to talk to about guilt of killing someone for the first time. You sat there next to him, feeling tears well up as you balled your hands into fists, he watched you from the corner of his eye. "Drink with me" it was an order, he handed you the large bottle of rum and you took it shakily, taking a sip before pulling a face, it felt like fire "A real drink" You took a shot and sighed.
"Killing is something you can't avoid in this life" He started taking the bottle back from you. "He'd have killed you in a second, you got there first, right?" He handed you the bottle back, you took another swig.
"You aren't a bad person for surviving" He said, another downed shot of his own "Alright?" You nodded, feeling just a little better.
Sanji
- Sanji at a certain point might be problematic in the way he comforts you depending on your gender. Male: You couldn't stop feeling bad about it, the way the man had died at your hand, you knew it was in self defense but it still haunted you. How did the others get over it? You leaned on the railing and sighed. Sanji came out, lighting up a cigarette and watching you "How long are you going to sulk for?" You looked up at the cook, he leaned next to you, exhaling smoke "You need to man up, we've all killed, you don't get far as a pirate being soft" He grunted.
Female: You couldn't stop crying, you felt like you couldn't wash enough to get the sticky feeling of blood off your hands, like all you could smell was iron, thick and stinging in the air. Sanji stepped out the kitchen and saw you sobbing softly to yourself. "Swan, what's wrong?" You sniffled and told him. He pulled you against his chest, gently shushing you as he held you close.
Franky
- Franky is another good person to go to, he knows about doing bad things for good reasons/misunderstood reasons. He opened the door to his workshop, he lifted a brow when he heard a sound, it sounded like crying, softly from around the corner. You looked up with a start, rubbing your tears away on your sleeve. His expression softened and he sat down next to you on the floor. "You alright kid?" He asked and you shook you heard, he hummed in thought, running a hand through his hair. "Listen" He started, stretching his legs out in front of himself. "Sometimes we gotta do bad things yeah?" You didn't respond. "Well, yeah, sometimes we do, when you live free there ain't no black and white to mortality" You stared at your feet thinking his words over. "Ya ain't bad cus you did a bad thing, alright kid?" You nodded, smiling when he ruffled your hair. Usopp
- Oh lord, he'd try and be as comforting as he could but he just would trip over his words, he'd try from the heart though.
Heading to the crows nest to relive you from your post he pushed the hatch and popped his head up, he winced seeing you crying into your folded arms, knees brought to your chest.
"Oh sorry.. I was coming to... " He felt awkward as he climbed in next you, he kicked the floor, moving pretend dust as you looked up, mumbling a sorry.
"No, no d-don't be! e-everyone goes through it... even the great captain Usopp!" You could tell he was trying, you smiled softly before he joined you.
"Tell you what... I can show you some tricks.. I.. my kill count is... low" He shrugged his shoulders, putting an arm around you, letting you lean against him "No one judges you! I promise!"
Jinbei
- He would know how you were feeling, he'd find you for a talk, he has a very low kill count if one at all but he's wise, he's known people to feel what you are feeling.
"Jinbei?" You asked looking up at the large fishman who attempted to sit down with you at the table, the bench tilted and you slid down untill you thudded against his side, he didn't seem to mind.
"What happened isn't your fault" He placed a large webbed hand on your shoulder. "It's part of life on the seas" You nodded, it was true, everyone had blood on their hands, near enough.
"Can you teach me how to look after myself without the c..chance of.. you know..." You sighed and leaned against him. He placed his hand on your head, patting gently, reassuringly.
"Of course"
