12/26/15 - Kwanzaa Spirit
Here it is; the third filler in my December Holiday Trifecta, now celebrating Kwanzaa! You gotta admit; it can be pretty depressing when Christmas is over, so having an additional seven days of celebration and time with family is a great way to postpone the post-holiday blues. Of course, celebrating this holiday is none other than Enticia - a.k.a. Rose Greene - and her sister, Daisy.
Enticia's hat and gold earrings are re-used from my Twelve Days of C.R.A.S.H.mas filler from a few years back, which concluded with everyone dressed in festive holiday outfits. Daisy's dress, of course, shares the traditional red, green, and black Kwanzaa colors with her sister's hat. My original plan for this comic was going to have Enticia rubbing her state of non-depression in Belt Boy and Cannon's faces, but in the interest in simplifying comic structure and showing proper respect for the holiday season, I decided to go with the less-obnoxious idea of the two sisters simply appreciating the fact that they still have a great holiday to look forward to.
Hope everyone's been enjoying their holiday season. I've had a good - if somewhat unconventional - Christmas: breakfast from Wawa, drawing cartoon characters for children during a luncheon at the local homeless shelter, Chinese food for dinner, present-opening late after my dad got home from his new job (which, sadly, had him working Christmas Day), and wrapping up the day with the timeless classic, "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I got a GameStop gift card, some new sneakers, and a copy of The Animator's Toolkit (a VERY well-reputed book; most animation classes consider this the singular most useful textbook on the subject around!). All in all, not a bad way to spend Christmas. For those of you who celebrate it, have a Happy Kwanzaa! And for the rest of you, I hope you're feeling happy and loved during this holiday season. Take care of yourself, as well as those less fortunate than yourself. Happy Holidays!
