Nora Universe - Chapter 29 - Whatever It Takes

Nora and Pink Diamond’s court flashed in the facets of Gray Diamond’s gem. She grinned as she reached out telepathically to Black Diamond, summoning her. She waited a moment before Black Diamond stepped from the shadows.

“You have news?” Black Diamond asked.

“Yes. Nora, I’m sorry, Connie is planning on running back to Earth today. Along with the remains of Starlight’s court,” Gray Diamond announced.

“Took her long enough. I would have been disappointed if they waited the full five days. What are they plotting?”

“Some words escaped me, but from what Nora showed the others and what I could read, they intend on making a portal.”

Black Diamond hummed. “That would require an immense amount of magic. Surely to be noticed by all the others. But that would also mean Nora would have to use a lot more of her own magic to make it.”

“So?”

“So, there’s a better chance of her imprinting on Starlight’s gem. And the sooner she makes her impression, the sooner we can bring in a new Diamond and usher in a new era with a proper leader.”

“Then you’ll love this. They’re planning on getting rid of the Cluster. Coral even got information from Amber directly about it.”

Black Diamond gasped and clapped. “Wonderful! What are they doing now?”

“They’re still in the garden, planning things out.”

“Keep your eye on them. Brown too. I want no mistakes. I also want you to inform all other Diamonds save those ones to ignore any surges of magic they may sense. I also want Yellow to gather with her court in her palace. Don’t tell her why, but I wish to speak with her directly.”

Gray Diamond smirked. “As you command, Black.”

Amber Diamond stepped into Yellow Diamond’s throne room. She walked up to Yellow Diamond, who was accompanied by Orange Diamond on her left and Red Diamond on her right.

“What is with this summons? My work is delicate and requires my full attention,” Amber Diamond demanded.

“Gray informed me to gather my court for unknown reasons. You should know what that means,” Yellow Diamond remarked.

“Did we offend, Yellow?” Orange Diamond asked.

“I’m not sure. Things have been off since Blue returned with that human,” Yellow Diamond said.

“The human that matches my reports,” Amber Diamond announced.

“I’m well aware, but you cannot go near her. Not with those extra Diamonds babysitting it,” Yellow Diamond hissed.

“What’s so important about this human?” Red Diamond demanded.

“She has a gem on her navel. One that looked like a Rose Quartz,” Amber Diamond retorted.

“A Rose Quartz? You don’t think it’s the Rose Quartz?” Orange Diamond asked.

“I do, and I want to study her in this form. There are questions that need answered, paths that need explored, and more,” Amber Diamond said.

“Well, we can’t do anything with those lesser Diamonds. Honestly, they should just have been shattered with Pink. Get rid of any trace of them,” Yellow Diamond commented.

“They why did you keep Coral and her pearl’s bubbles near your throne for so long?” Amber Diamond asked.

Orange and Red Diamond looked away while Yellow Diamond glared down at Amber Diamond. Amber Diamond held her head high and met Yellow Diamond’s glare with her own. They glared at each other when laughter sounded around them and they all gasped. Yellow Diamond stood while Amber Diamond took her place beside Orange Diamond. They all straightened when Black Diamond appeared from the shadows.

“My, what a show. Truly, it warms my heart to see you all get along the way you do,” Black Diamond commented.

“Black, to what do we owe this visit?” Yellow Diamond asked.

“I wished to speak with you and your court about the human pet we have. But, before we do, I need a vow of secrecy from all of you. What we talk about here must not be spoken of with anyone. Except those in our respective courts. Do you agree?”

Yellow Diamond looked at her Diamonds, then at Black Diamond. “We agree.”

Black Diamond smiled and snapped her fingers. Black diamond marks appeared under each of Yellow, Orange, Red, and Amber Diamond’s right hands that vanished beneath their gloves.

“Wonderful! Now, we may not have been entirely truthful with you all. See, Pink Diamond was never shattered,” Black Diamond announced.

“Impossible! We found her gem shards!” Yellow Diamond roared.

“Oh, Yellow, sweetie, those were fake. Even for an inferior Diamond, those shards could never match our luster.”

“Why keep this from us? And where is Pink?”

“Why, she’s here, in our care. Well, not entirely. Her gem is here, but she is gone.”

“The human?” Amber Diamond asked.

“Correct! That Rose Quartz you thought she was, that is actually Starlight,” Black Diamond announced.

“Hold on. Would this mean that Pink Diamond was Rose Quartz?” Amber Diamond asked.

“That’s impossible. The rebel Rose Quartz was a brilliant strategist and warrior as any Quartz. She may have possessed incredible powers unusual to a Quartz, but her prowess as a warrior was unmatched. There’s no way she was Pink of all gems,” Red Diamond pointed out.

“Right. If that’s the case, and the human has Pink Diamond’s gem, but Pink couldn’t be Rose Quartz, why give the human a Pearl that looks just like Rose Quartz?” Amber Diamond challenged.

Red Diamond opened their mouth, then frowned. She looked up at Black Diamond, who just smiled.

“You’re planning something, aren’t you?” Amber Diamond asked Black Diamond.

“We are. And I demand your cooperation. The human is looking to return to Earth through means of a portal. What’s more is the last of Pink’s court is going with her. I wager they gather as we speak. They even intend to eliminate the Cluster once they get to Earth,” Black Diamond said.

“What? We must stop them!” Yellow Diamond yelled.

“You will not. You will allow them to return and attempt to destroy the Cluster.”

“What? But that Cluster is an experiment in the works. Another weapon for us to use. All that time and effort and for what?”

“Since this is going nowhere, I have to ask. You said Pink’s gem was here, but she wasn’t. If Pink’s gem is on the human, but she’s not in the gem, does this invite the opportunity to reforge Pink’s gem with a new persona?” Amber Diamond asked.

“What a clever mind you have, Amber. Indeed. Imagine it if you will. An era devoted to new technologies to squash any and all uprisings. An era of experimentation and innovation come to an end with the greatest of all experiments. Bringing Pink back, but with the true traits and qualities of a proper leader. With our Authority whole once again, we can reclaim our places as a galactic powerhouse once more with a greater, brighter Authority,” Black Diamond gushed.

“We could have also just made a new set of Diamonds and shattered the last bit of Pink’s court,” Amber Diamond remarked.

“Not with Blue around,” Yellow Diamond commented.

“I suppose. And I suppose if White’s court knew all along that Pink wasn’t dead, I guess I can understand why you didn’t just craft new Diamonds. But why wait so long?” Amber Diamond asked.

“We forgot about that rock until Yellow sent a Peridot to check on the Cluster. And then what you found, and the human working with the last of the Crystal Gems to take over and take down your gems, we were intrigued.”

“What? How are there rebels still on that rock? The red eye reports showed no gems?” Red Diamond demanded.

“Pink’s shield. Or rather, Rose’s shield,” Amber Diamond said.

“Correct. She protected those closest to her at the time. The fusion and her Pearl. The rest are beyond repair. A shame as some of our troops were caught in the blast, but sacrifices had to be made,” Black Diamond explained.

“I… see. What would you command of us, Black?” Yellow Diamond asked.

“In four days, you are to set out for Earth. To look for the Jasper, but also to recover our precious pet from the renegade Diamonds that kidnapped it and fled to Earth. You personally took the mission seeing the pain and torment that Blue suffered once again. I want you to fight the human, push her to use magic, and then stage a defeat,” Black Diamond instructed.

“A lot of soldiers may be lost to the rebels,” Red Diamond commented.

“That’s what I hope for. I can’t speak for the human, but Starlight’s soldiers won’t shatter. They’ll only bubble. And the more of us they take, the greater the counterattack later,” Black Diamond pointed out.

“What counterattack?” Orange Diamond asked.

“When the new Pink Diamond returns to claim Earth as her colony, as is her right. And we can reestablish ourselves as the powerhouse we were before Starlight pulled her greatest tantrum. We’ll be unstoppable once again,” Black Diamond cooed.

Yellow Diamond smiled. “Very well. When do you want me assembling my troops?”

“After Blue gets the news. Go to her. Offer to reclaim her precious pet. Do you understand?”

“As is your will, Black.”

Black Diamond smiled and disappeared. Yellow Diamond stared at where Black Diamond once stood when she heard Gray Diamond’s voice in her head, informing her to ignore any surges of magic felt today.

“Yellow? Your orders?” Red Diamond asked.

“Return to what you were all doing. Return here when we all feel this surge in magic. Understood?” Yellow Diamond commanded.

“Yes, Yellow!” Red and Orange Diamond yelled.

“All of us?” Amber Diamond asked.

“All of us,” Yellow Diamond echoed.

“Very well. As is your will, Yellow.”

Nora paced around the ruined garden when Coral Diamond returned with the Pearls, Spinel, and the Rose Quartz guards. Rose Pearl’s eyes widened when she saw the distress on Nora’s face.

“My human, are you ok?” Rose Pearl asked.

“I’m fine,” Nora said.

Nora pushed past Rose Pearl as a splitting headache tore through her. She flinched as more of her memories with Pearl were replaced with Rose Pearl.

“Are you sure? You look unwell,” Rose Pearl pressed.

“I’m fine,” Nora hissed.

Nora pushed past Rose Pearl and up to Pink Pearl. She held up her journal to Pink Pearl.

“Could you hold onto this for me?” Nora asked.

“Of course, Connie!” Pink Pearl cheered.

Pink Pearl took the journal as Nora joined Coral, Orchid, and Platinum Diamond.

“Are we ready?” Nora asked.

“Yes,” Orchid Diamond said.

“I suppose so,” Coral Diamond remarked.

Platinum Diamond nodded.

“Remember to focus on the place I showed you. Focus everything on the center for it. Let’s give it our all,” Nora instructed.

Nora stepped back as the trio did. They created a diamond formation as they all held up their hands. They all thought about the Temple and thought of a portal that led to it. Their gems all glowed as magic surged from them. It poured and pooled in the center as a portal began to take form. Nora focused more as she closed her eyes and repeated: “I want to go home,” with the Temple in her mind.

Nora’s heart soared as the portal took shape until Coral Diamond collapsed. Her heart fell as Platinum collapsed next and the magic waned.

“Keep it together!” Nora yelled.

“We can’t. It’s too much for us,” Coral Diamond hissed.

“No! We can do it!” Orchid Diamond shouted.

Coral Diamond opened her mouth when Platinum Diamond stood back up, ran up to Nora, and placed a hand on Nora. Nora gasped as her own magic strengthened, reinforced by Platinum Diamond. She glanced at Platinum Diamond, who looked back with desperate eyes.

“Change tactics. Channel your magic into me like Platinum is,” Nora ordered.

Orchid Diamond immediately joined Platinum next to Nora. Coral Diamond sighed before she stood and focused her magic on Nora. Nora shuddered at all their magic reinforcing her. It was stronger than anything she’s felt before. She took a deep breath and refocused on the portal.

Nora focused on the Temple as their destination while she poured all their magic into creating the portal. She repeated that she wanted to go home and to make a portal home over in her head as the portal came into existence.

“Go! Now!” Nora ordered.

The trio of Diamonds broke away and Nora gasped. She felt her hold on the portal weaken. She struggled to maintain it when darkness fell over her. Fear consumed her as a phantom hand grabbed her entire body. She screamed and came out of the darkness as magic surged from her into the portal before she collapsed. Rose and Pink Pearl rushed to her side while Coral Diamond got everyone else through the portal.

“My human, are you ok?” Rose Pearl asked.

Nora took a sharp breath before she shot up. She grabbed Pink Pearl and threw her into the portal. She summoned her shield and struck Rose Pearl on the gem, cracking it. Rose Pearl shrieked and fell back.

“My human, I don’t understand. What’s going on?” Rose Pearl cried.

Nora stood over Rose Pearl and glared down at her. She gritted her teeth as her vision distorted, and she saw Pearl’s image flicker over Rose Pearl. She raised her shield to strike Rose Pearl but hesitated.

“Nora, please, don’t do this. We’re family,” Rose Pearl said with Pearl’s voice.

Nora sneered and shut her eyes. “No. You’re. Not!”

Nora roared and slammed her shield down on Rose Pearl’s gem, shattering it. Nora opened her eyes as Rose Pearl’s body dissipated and the gem shards fell to the ground. Her stomach lurched and tears rimmed her eye as Pearl’s gem overlayed on Rose Pearl’s gem shards. She shook her head and ran through the portal as it closed behind her.

Silence hung in the garden like a cloud. The shadows moved as Black Pearl stepped out from behind a pillar. She gathered the shattered remains of Rose Pearl and put them in a bubble. She stepped back into the shadows and teleported to Black Diamond’s room. She stood on the stage made for her and held up Rose Pearl’s shards. Black Diamond’s hand reached out and took the bubble.

“Incredible. I almost didn’t think she’d do it, but this is a good sign,” Black Diamond mused.

“Shall I bring this to Yellow Diamond?” Black Pearl asked.

“Oh, now that’s an idea. Please do,” Black Diamond cooed.

Black Pearl took back the bubbled gem shards and stepped into the shadows. She teleported to Yellow Diamond’s throne room where Yellow and her court were assembled. They all stopped their conversation as she approached. She smiled and held up the bubble. Amber Diamond stepped forward and took the bubble.

“These look like a Pearl gem shards. Given the rosy shade despite the dark bubble, these belong to that Rose Pearl. Am I correct?” Amber Diamond asked.

“Correct. Shattered by Nora herself. Though, I’m sure you can spin the tale to the renegade Diamonds having shattered Rose Pearl,” Black Pearl announced.

Yellow Diamond smirked as she took the bubble. “Excellent. Red, have the troops on standby. I’m going to visit Blue now. I’ll be the one to deliver the news.”

“Perhaps I could come with you. Add a little more validity to this tale that Blue couldn’t deny,” Black Pearl mused.

Yellow Diamond sighed and reached down. Black Pearl held her head high as she jumped onto Yellow Diamond’s hand. Yellow Diamond brought Black Pearl up to her shoulder. Black Pearl leapt from the hand to the shoulder as she perched on it. Black Pearl spared a moment to shoot Yellow Pearl a smug, spiteful smile before she turned to Yellow Diamond.

“Let’s go. The future of the Empire awaits.”

Blue Diamond sat in a large pool with her court Diamonds: Purple, Green, and Indigo. They laughed and talked until Blue Pearl walked up to Blue Diamond.

“My Diamond, Yellow Diamond is here. She says she has urgent news,” Blue Pearl announced.

“She does. Let her in, at once,” Blue Diamond commanded.

Blue Pearl returned to the door and opened it as Blue Diamond stepped out of the pool. Yellow Diamond walked in with Black Pearl on her shoulder.

“Yellow, what’s going on? Why is Black’s Pearl with you?” Blue Diamond asked.

“I’m afraid I have grave news,” Yellow Diamond said as she showed the bubbled gem shards.

Blue Diamond reached out and took the bubble. “What is this?”

“The shattered remains of Rose Pearl. Shattered by the Diamonds of Pink’s court. They broke her and then fled to Earth with Connie,” Yellow Diamond announced.

Blue Diamond gasped as tears fell from her eyes. Indigo Diamond opened her mouth and raised her hand, but was silenced when Black Pearl shot her a warning look.

“How did you find out? Is that why Black Pearl is here? Was it you?” Blue Diamond asked.

“Indeed. My Diamond had her suspicions, but was busy. So, I went in her stead to confirm if she had cause to be suspicious, and she did. I witnessed Orchid, Platinum, and Coral Diamond all promise to show Connie some magic, but created a portal where they whisked Connie away into and shattered the lovely gift from White and Black Diamond,” Black Pearl explained.

“Is that what that notice was? For the surge in magic?” Blue Diamond asked.

“Yes. Orchid Diamond arrived and told us what they were planning. My Diamond allowed it, but was still suspicious. I just wish we could have saved Connie. I’m so sorry.”

Blue Diamond bowed her head as tears fell. Yellow Diamond stepped closer and wrapped an arm around Blue Diamond’s shoulders.

“Fret not, Blue. We still need to find that Jasper on Earth. I was going to just send Rubies, but not anymore. I’ll go myself to get Connie back for you,” Yellow Diamond announced.

“No,” Blue Diamond said.

“No? I thought-,” Yellow Diamond started.

Blue Diamond looked up with a terrifying rage. “I’ll go. Green! Rally the troops. Purple! Get my ship ready. And Yellow? Don’t stop me.”

“Are you sure about this?” Yellow Diamond asked.

“Yes. I need to make an example of them for this.”

“Very well. I can accompany you for back up if needed.”

Blue Diamond considered. “Ok, but don’t engage unless I call for you. I want to be the one to carry out the punishment for this treachery.”

“Understood. Let’s not waste any more time.”

Diamonds, alters, pearls and babies

I was thinking of making some more fusions and hybrids but for now I'll let it stay this way.

Rose is shy and compasionate, the only one here that tried to be an actual diamond but was very unhappy. She found perfection on inperfections and sooner rather than later decided that she had enough of Homeworld, became Petalite, stole a ship and ran away with her pearls. Petalite has less compassion inside and is often seen as a strict leader.

Lava is a very late diamond, a Era 2 one. Her powers are giving energy to other gems, maybe too much energy at times, to the point of making them poof. She was found by Rose and they reunited with Moon. Because no one could know that they were a diamond, Lava shapeshifted to be a Bixbite. She's sassy and full of energy.

Also her Bixbite design is as an adopt I got from lun_art_collection on Instagram that I used for this after giving it a few touches

Moon was born from White's leftovers. She's weak and no diamond (other than Rose or Lava) know about her. But Black Emerald is known and searched by other gems for stealing ships and helping off-colors. She's respected yet feared.

Since only Rose was known to the other diamonds before she dissapeared, Lava and Moon have no pearls. Rose got two for being too depressed.

Pastel Spinel was an abandoned defective spinel Lava found and inmediately kept. She's everyone's bundle of joy.

And Daisy is just gay.

For now this is everything until I decide if to do hybrids or fusions haha
