actually came across 2 other cats that were also really nice and i got to help the local stray get rid of his ticks, he usually doesnt let me just touch him, although he is a very nice cat too
i looked in the neighbourhoods facebook group (the only thing i use fb for) to see if the cat pictured was maybe on missing just in case, since i usually dont see cats at that spot and then found a post about what to do when you suspect a cat is a stray.
I always assumed id had to catch the guy and bring him to the vet to check to check for a chip, i never actually checked what was recommended (or if there are other options). also i wasnt sure yet wether he is a stray or just an old cat with missing teeth, or slightly neglected (he had a huge visible tick on his face a couple days in a row until i removed it) (and also is not castrated)
when we saw him around while i was walking with a friend, i mentioned that when i caught him in my house once and picked him up and he was WAY heavier than i expected. like that guy is just one compacted muscle machine. My friend said then said that when their ex had lost her cat and found it again a year later, it had become extremely muscular too.
so now im officially convinced and am planning on contacting the right people about this soon. he deserves a nice place to curl up and someone to get rid of his ticks all the time ‼️
