Distractions | Mike & Rose

Mike felt conflicted being home. Of course, with the trouble with the Connoghans, he supposed he was glad of it now, but he was starting to feel as though it would have just had been better to finish out his semester at school, instead of taking off. He had stopped school to be with his family, but he didn't feel as though he had been much help to any of them. Their father spent most of his time resting when he was feeling ill or working when he wasn't, while his mother spent all of her in the kitchen or at church, and Sonny was busy doing his father's work ... or avoiding it with Lucy. 

Not that he didn't like being with his family, but it was easy to feel in the way when they were busy or smothered when they weren't, which was why he had ended up spending so much time with the Carter's. Sometimes he worried he was overstaying his welcome, but they were always eager to invite him over. He liked being there: even if their tiny living room was smaller than his bathroom back home. If only for a few hours, he could forget everything that was happening and he even felt useful (there was always something they needed help fixing or, at the least, help reaching). 

Mike knew that Cass was away for the weekend with her class on a fieldtrip and Rose was home alone, studying for her finals. He took the steps to her apartment, two at a time, and knocked on her door. 

"I brought supplies," He said, as soon as she opened the door. "Pizza from Ponzetti's -- plus cheese sticks -- and fresh donuts from that bakery you love. Sorry, I should have called," He said, "I just thought with Cass gone and you working on finals that you could use a break and might not give it to yourself unless someone came and forced you," He teased, "But if you are really swamped, I can come back when you finish next week. I just wanted to make sure you ate something."

THIS FRIENDSHIP HURTS B/C IT MIGHT LITERALLY COME BACK TO HURT ROSE AND THAT'S NOT OKAY. 

Okay, but I feel like Mike has been spending a lot of time w/ the Carters recently?? Since he's been home from school/he's not working/probs doesn't even do much w/ the business at this point and so his days, otherwise, would be spend cooped up in the family complex and like he likes his family and all and he wants to be there for his dad, but being there 24/7, he just needs to like get out. Especially since I feel like w/ his dad resting/Sonny working, he spends a lot of time w/ his mom who is like WHY AREN'T YOU MARRIED TO A NICE GIRL?!!!?? And he's basically like where's Tony & Alek b/c I'm going insane ??? ;D
