Princess Aurora is a character based on Season 2 of OUAT. Her story isn’t very different from the one Rose had before the curse.
So basically, these are the things you should know about Aurora (also, check the my story tag):
-She has been a princess all her life.
-She did pretend to be a normal, poor village girl once to hide from Maleficent
-Before her Sleeping Curse, she made a deal or two with Rumplestiltskin
-She lived with Rumplestiltskin almost a year (instead of the three good fairies) because of a deal her parents made with him
-She took the Sleeping Curse at will to save Philip
-She doesn’t really trust fairies
-Her mother was the original Sleeping Beauty, cursed not many years after Aurora was born
-She did meet Regina at some point in her life in the Enchanted Forest
-She had her heart taken out by Hook
-She left the group(Emma, Mulan, Snow) to protect them because Cora had her heart
-She still has nightmares
-She went to Storybrooke, and made a deal with Rumplestiltskin to have her life fixed, cause, lets face it, her life sucks.
-What she wants more than anything in the world is freedom, since she has spent most of her life trapped in a castle with her overprotective parents (Maleficent gets the blame for that one)
Aurora actually believes in love and remembers Philip though by the time she gets to Storybrooke she is a lot colder. She isn’t what one would call evil. She is simply what one would call hurt being just one step away from becoming what Regina is. Nevertheless, she still has the same ideals and believes in honesty. Despite how much she wants revenge, there is only one thing in the world she wants the most and that is what she has always wanted: true freedom. If she were to end up being even more hurt than she is and never finding love again, she would most likely become even worse than Regina herself. Lets face it, they’ve both lived an awful life and there is only so much pain one can take. On the other hand, she still has trust issues, never knowing who to trust, and that just makes it even worse for her.
Aurora and Rumplestiltskin
The story with Rumplestiltskin might be, in fact, the most complex plot in all of Aurora’s story and that is why I just wanted to make most of it be the same in both Rose and Aurora.
Basically, you’ll find most of it in the MyStory tag, but here are the basics:
Aurora’s heart was bound to a golden lace since she was born. She was, what one could say, a product of magic, since her parents longed for a child but couldn’t have one. That golden lace belonged to Rumplestiltskin and it was stolen from him. Since the only way to get it back is by killing the girl, he arranged a deal with the king on her 18th birthday to protect Aurora until she was nineteen.
The first time she left her castle and met the outside world was when Rumplestiltskin took her away. At this time, she was the most spoiled and shallow brat one could ever imagine.
In the time she spent living with Rumplestiltskin, ‘Rora learned how to be humble and kind because, for the first time, she knew how her people felt.
Despite her efforts to get to know him, Rumple never revealed much of his past to the young princess.
Aurora knows the story of Bae because the Blue Fairy told her and she made a deal with Rumplestiltskin to never speak of him again. That day, she had gotten lost in the forest and she summoned him for help so he brought her back to the cottage in exchange of her never speaking of Bae again.
Aurora used to run away from the cottage very often, making Rumplestiltskin furious, especially after she met Philip.
It was Rumplestiltskin who created the Sleeping Curse and it was his spinning wheel that cursed Aurora.
In the time she spent living with him, he frequently cursed her to stop talking (lol, I used to find this so amusing), lock her up, shout at her and he once even took her by the jaw and lifted her from the ground (oh yeah, that’s all in threads)
Later on, after awakening, Aurora has a conversation with Emma in which she finds out that Rumplestiltskin summoned the wraith that took Philip’s soul.
There are a lot of other reasons why these two hate each other. Perhaps it could also be because ‘Rora trusted him and he was the first person to let her down. Anyways, right now I’m incredibly sleepy and I just can’t remember all the other reasons and the rest of the story. But I just love every Rumple/’Rora thread lol, they’re so full of hate.
Rose HeadCanons (or basically just her story):
In Storybrooke, Aurora’s name is Rose Dawn (for Briar Rose and Aurora). This character is based on Season 1.
Rose Dawn is a 19 year old girl with an incredible curiosity. She spends her days investigating about Storybrooke’s history but she is more intrigued about Mr Gold’s pawn shop and the things he sells. She thinks most girls in Storybrooke are helplessly corny and she says she doesn’t believe in love. She is desperate to find something, yet she doesn’t know what. She can be seen wearing a golden locket with a picture of her father and mother.
Her parents tried to leave Storybrooke because of a debt they had with Mr Gold. Their car was found destroyed near the woods, making everyone assume they are dead. Rose now has to deal with their debts working part-time at the Neverland Day Care center and Storybrooke’s Coffee Shop.
She frequently visits Dr Hopper because of nightmares she has in which a darker version of Mr Gold (Rumplestiltskin) wants to kill her.
King Stefan and Queen Leah longed for a child, but couldn’t have one, so they asked Maleficent, the family fairy godmother for help. The fairy bound a strand of gold to the queen with magic and nine months afterwards, a beautiful golden haired baby girl was born. She was named Aurora after the Roman Goddess of the Dawn because she filled the King and Queen’s life with sunshine.
Once the child was born, fairies from all the land came to her to grant her gifts, but the King and Queen had forgotten to invite Maleficent. The parents were, indeed, quite selfish and they didn’t even thank the Fairy. For this, Maleficent cursed their daughter. Before her nineteenth birthday she was to prick herself with a spindle and fall down dead. Of all of the fairies there, non could undo what Maleficent had done, for no fairy can undo what one of her sisters has done, even if Maleficent had become, from that day on, a Dark Fairy.
The king and queen were desperate, willing to pay any price to save their only daughter so they decided to call upon the Dark One.
Once Rumpelstiltskin arrived the castle, the Blue Fairy warned the king and queen not to make a deal with him, to which they answered: “It couldn’t be worse than dealing with fairies.”
Rumpelstiltskin let out a giggle upon seeing his enemy fail at warning the king and queen. The worried parents explained him the situation with their daughter and as the Blue Fairy left, he took one quick glance at the sleeping little princess, his amused expression fading as his features reflected his growing anger.
“I shall take the child” he said determined.
The king and queen looked at him in horror and the queen took her child in her arms. What they didn’t know was that Maleficent had stolen the strand of gold she bound to the queen… a strand of gold that belonged to Rumpelstiltskin. Golden as Princess Aurora’s hair.
Despite the fact that Rumpelstiltskin didn’t need gold at all, he wanted that strand back because of pride. A fairy had stolen what belonged to him.
The Dark One explained that he couldn’t undo Maleficent’s curse, but that he was the most powerful creature in all the land and he could protect the princess more than any guard in the castle. With him, Maleficent would never find her. After all, who would think to look for a princess cursed to prick her finger on a spinning wheel with a man who was notorious for spinning gold?
The king was about to accept, but the queen, nevertheless, refused to make the deal with Rumpelstiltskin and the Dark One growled in anger.
“This child has something that belongs to me. I’m getting it back one way or another, dearie.” he said smirking and left the castle swearing himself he would one day get that strand of gold back.
Eighteen years went by and Aurora had grown one of the most beautiful princesses in all the land, but she had as well become one of the most spoiled. Every spinning wheel had been burned… all, but one.
Seeing the time for her daughter’s death was near and there was nothing she could do, Queen Leah summoned the Dark One once more, and this time, begged him to protect her daughter. At first sight, being as superficial as she was, Aurora looked at Rumpelstiltskin in disgust, but she accepted leaving with him was the only way she could survive. Besides, she had read that a kiss born of true love could break her curse and she knew she wouldn’t find her true love trapped inside the castle.
Rumpelstiltskin agreed to take Aurora in exchange for the palace and he swore to keep her alive until her nineteenth birthday. From that day on, the palace became the Dark Palace and everyone who lived in it were at Rumpelstiltskin’s mercy.
But to protect Aurora, he took her to his old house. There, he ordered her name to be changed to Briar Rose and to pretend to be some poor town girl so Maleficent wouldn’t find her. She wasn’t comfortable with the idea, but she accepted anyhow. Since Aurora had never left the castle before, no one recognized her.
Rumpelstiltskin thought of ways to get the strand of gold back without killing the girl, and he created the sleeping curse which he placed upon Briar Rose.
While in town, Aurora met prince Phillip and they both fell in love with each other, but he couldn’t be with her because she wasn’t a princess and she couldn’t admit she was a princess because Rumpelstiltskin had forbid it, and as much as she hated admitting it, she feared the consequences of disobeying him.
When she arrived back to her house, Rumpelstiltskin asked why she was crying and she explained she couldn’t be with the prince because she wasn’t allowed to be a princess. Rumpelstiltskin offered to let her use the spinning wheel to make her forget, which was in fact his plan to put her to sleep. After examining the spinning wheel curiously, Aurora pricked her finger and fell into an uncontrolable sleep.
In that moment, Rumpelstiltskin tried to take his strand of gold back, but her hair became brown and he realized he had lost it.
Eventually, Prince Phillip found her and kissed her to wake her up and she told him she was indeed a princess. After the prince offered the king and queen to live at his palace, everything in Aurora’s life seemed to go back to normal, except for her hair. One day, Rumpelstiltskin appeared at the castle and threatened to kill her, but the King and Queen reminded him of his deal to keep her alive until her 19th birthday.
Knowing getting Phillip involved would mean Rumpelstiltskin might kill him, Aurora fled on her birthday with a girl she met at the village. Her name was Mulan. When Prince Phillip found them, so did Rumpelstiltskin. Right when he was about to kill them, Briar Rose offered to make a deal. She said she would find a way to give him what he wanted without having him kill her if only he gave her time. Rumpelstiltskin gave Briar Rose 28 years to find the strand of gold that gave her life. As a guarantee, that she would only focus on finding it, he cursed her and Phillip to never find each other’s true love, making both forget they ever met each other. From that day on, Briar Rose has looked for the golden strand.
