A writing one that I swear by is 'jot down every single idea/blurb that sticks with you.' Even if that means keeping a little notebook on your nightstand to write down a random idea that woke you at 3 AM (I have had entire fics spring forth from this), or jotting down a random line that pops in your head.

I have a Vincent-centric miniseries in the works that started off with thinking of the different ways and implications the phrase 'good night' can have, and notes for a potential one that started when I had a mental image of Aerith just losing it on someone while listening to In This Moment's 'Big Bad Wolf' and jotted down the visual I got from Maria Brink's scream.

Galian's notes app? Full of blurbs and outlines or one-off ideas that may or may not come to fruition~ (and yes, my phone is named Galian).

Write. Down. Everything. No matter how silly or ridiculous it sounds.

🏜️ ⇢ what’s your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

I love any and all comments I get on my work ;; Especially ones that tell me specific lines they enjoyed, or how a particular character's actions made them feel. Commentary as they read is excellent, too - then it's like I'm sitting beside them, seeing their reactions in almost real-time.

Literally all comments warm my little heart, and I have actually cried at some. Writers love comments; even if some of us aren't the best at responding to them (I'm sorry!), know that they are loved and appreciated, and help keep us going.

🎨 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like it

Oh I have way too many - and artwork is also a big inspiration to me, too - so if it's okay, I'm going to pick a commission and a fanart and explain my feelings for them~

First is a fanart done by @bleaksqueak from waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day (when I was following her on DA, no less! I hope you don't mind me tagging you here, lol)

Just... the sheer magnitude of this piece still gets to me, years and years later, that it remains one of my all-time favorite Vincent pieces. You can FEEL the tension as he's trying to hold himself back (note the human hand clutching his chest!), but that sheen in his eyes, his face already starting to change, the horns beginning to form, the ears... and yes, I spy that tail rising in the back. Whoever's spurred this Limit Break on is absolutely fucked, to put it extremely lightly, and the emerging (Galian) beast is not going to hold back. This is one of the biggest inspirations behind the way I write Vincent when he transforms into Galian even to this day, even with Rebirth's portrayal. This is the quieter yet no less visceral portrayal of the beast within Vincent Valentine beginning to emerge (and I didn't even go into her Chaos piece, which yes, is also a big inspiration).

For commission, this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but it's the Vincent/Reilena piece I commissioned @asheanon for, titled 'three little words,' which goes along with my short fic of the same name.

She captured the moment in the fic perfectly - the weight of those words, unsaid by him for years because he felt unworthy of saying them, despite knowing his feelings for her and her saying them to him numerous times, now lifted because he finally feels he can say them. That he can finally allow himself to live, to love and be loved, without fear or question. Their tender smiles, the way his claws gently caress her cheek as they gaze at each other, the hazy rainbow courtesy of the waterfall - yes, they are outside Lucrecia's cave - Cerberus' empty holster... the love they feel for each other here is practically tangible, and you can see them sharing that elated kiss in your mind already.

God literally all of you drive busted-ass Ford Focuses (Foci?) so physically moving the body is an issue. Tentatively @masterqueef99 knows enough about anatomy to help me chop it up efficiently and uhhhhhh @subdee is the only person I know that doesn't drive a Ford Focus. Don't worry about what's in the bag.

🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Surprisingly not murder-related. Was looking stuff up for Pinion and went down a rabbithole of extremely poorly documented science on highly specific intersex conditions, still never really found any good answers or research aside from personal testimony from the like two people in the world that have the condition and did a Reddit AMA.

(It's caused google to also switch from profiling me as someone with crippling erectile dysfunction from my TNI research to god knows what at this point.)

When I am writing I like to start from the one scene I can see super clearly in my head and then build outwards from that. Makes it easier to build up to things more deliberately. Also I swear by making an outline but I know some maniacs that are only hindered by that because they get too into the weeds so who knows!

He didn't come back up right away. Noctis craned his neck to see, and immediately regretted it as he heard Ignis retch.

TRICK ME INTO WRITING THIS THING AGAIN WHY DON'T YOU I SEE HOW IT IS. This is from a XV/VII crossover AU thing??? Because apparently I just have a fascination with this game I don't even like. I dunno man I just work here.

There's still some bugs I have to hammer out in terms of the plot, and I mostly wrote some of the "first chapter" as a proof of concept, but I'm pretty happy with it. No Ignis isn't literally just Pinion in this shhhhh you didn't see anything.

Aeris did not leave Kalm on schedule; the town was celebrating a centennial and the streets were covered with bunting and filled with stalls boasting a whole galaxy of curiosities. Such a contrast to the slums of Sector Five or the Shinra aesthetic of the Upper plates. Tifa was more than willing to accompany; together they explored the fair, and it became the most natural thing in the world for them to take each other’s hand in their own.

They didn't need to know Yuffie was planning on robbing them blind as she dangled her legs off the boardwalk in Costa Del Sol, her fingers scrunched up in Nanaki's mane.

They didn't need to know what she was thinking about as she helped Tifa make a traditional Wutaian breakfast -- the proper way, the way it used to be done before the place had turned into a tourist trap and removed all the spices to appeal to visitors from the mainland.

They didn't need to know how much her legs were shaking as Cloud untied the rope around her legs, the disappointment plainly visible on his face even worse than the anger that had been there the day before.

They didn't need to know she'd pulled Cloud aside in secret after he'd woken up from his coma and told them about where he'd come from, and hugged him tight enough to leave a short-lived bruise.

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom

FFVII has to win this one, though not without substantial delay and the eventual finding out that other people wrote fanfic. So 22 years or so. Yike.

K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms

Kinda bowled over by enthusiasm from @fury-brand when I mentioned I was playing Resident Evil 6 and wound up with more and excellent Jake/Sherry stuff than I expected.

R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships

The most obscure one I can point to is Elena/Shera, but given I definitely discovered that via a fic, I am far from alone on that. Even something obscure like Ifalna/Elmyra has a few other instances. Cloud/Ifalna maybe? But that one’s courtesy of raaj, so...

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)

Not really; more in favor of exploring all kinds of different takes - many mutually contradictory.

(I think I have answered this in the past with world-building FFVII answers, so trying not to repeat)

7. What story/headcanons do you feel the proudest of?

I am always so pleased with Symbiosis, though that fic only exists because I was describing House Hunting to a friend and he found the whole concept kinda creepy (the living inside the husk of a dead monster and all). And a more mutually agreeable situation resulted.

Anyway! The headcanon is a variation to one I ran across on Tumblr: could Elmyra’s house be so much nicer than the rest of the Sector Five housing because it is/was a Hell House? Symbiosis went further and had them living together to their mutual benefit and in turn lead to numerous Aeris, Cloud and Tifa roam the world in Aeris’s house.

13. When did you start writing fanfic?

Technically when I was 7; I wanted a follow-up to Mysterious Cities of Gold and set about doing so on a huge old fashioned typewriter. I did not get very far with this (the impulse to write coming well before any notion of what the plot was, just that I wanted more now it had ended). Years and years before I knew fanfic was even a thing.

15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?

The Sex Education of Edea Lee - managing to not only get some fan-art but a live reading which was a lovely thing to run across in the tags.

21. Is there an idea you’ve always wanted to write, but haven’t yet?

I still occasionally get the urge to return to the fragmentary start of a Final Fantasy XV rewrite; keep Crowe alive, have her get Luna out of Insomnia. Pick up Sania and Cidney at Hammerhead and Iris soon after. And Aranea can help out too. For FFVII, most ideas I have have been written in some form soon after the idea comes. Do need to revise the Orphan Black one.

💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?

Vincent is not just an 'emo' or 'emo vampire.'

Vincent Valentine has gone through hell and high water in his life. Working for the Turks, sent to be a bodyguard to the heads of the Jenova Project, seeing just a FRACTION of what goes on behind closed doors, has his heart broken and then literally shot through, resurrected to be the test dummy for experiments by *both* the woman he'd fallen for and the man who killed him, now housing not just his own psyche but now the psyches of four other beings that he also physically (and painfully) transforms into when under extreme stress - one of them a godlike semi-Weapon in Chaos itself - knows he has eternal life due to his resurrection and everything that was done to him even after Chaos... anxiety, depression, CPTSD, body dysmorphia, probable self-harm at times, and that's just the tip of the iceberg... that seeing him have the ability to not only walk out of Lucrecia's cave at the end of Dirge but smile afterward??? Vincent needs the world's best therapists, love, and so many goddamn hugs.

ps: he is also not a vampire. Give him a blood kink if you'd like (I know I have~), but he's not an actual vampire.

💖: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?

Before Crisis is overrated.

I think trying to squeeze it in between OG and Crisis Core doesn't do it any favors, as it needs to fill in so many plotholes that retcons and shoehorned-in character cameos are shoved in for accommodation.

Granted, it being a Japan-only mobile game from the early 2000s doesn't help, but if it's to be given the 'Remake treatment,' it needs to be completely redone. As in, people say Dirge's gameplay needs to be reworked if it gets a remake (which I agree with, and say use Episode Prompto and Devil May Cry as inspiration for ways to help fix the combat)?

Before Crisis's everything needs to be reworked, starting with its writing and storyline(s). If it's supposed to focus on the Turks, let it focus... on the Turks. Perhaps show us how the division began, show us how it's run from the start - we're told these are supposed to be the John Wicks of Shinra, show us rather than just telling us. You can still use what's already been done - use it as a way to timeskip ahead and show how the division changed over the decades - and then figure out how to work in the character cameos so that some of them don't feel so sloppy or random.

💀: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?

Honestly, I wouldn't change the fates of any of the major characters in VII; they feel complete and sensical given the story. If we stretch this to include the Compilation?

Forgive me, friends who like him - Genesis Rhapsodos. I know his fate in CC and that silly 'secret ending' in Dirge but let him stay dead, please.

We already have Sephiroth at home.
