Since I read a collection of fun facts about somebody’s Hamlet performance on Tumblr (and really enjoyed it) I wanted to share some facts about the production of Hamlet I was in. And finally, after a very long time - I really did it. So, here we go:

- costumes and props were in style of modern subcultures; Polonius' family – Steampunk, royal family – (Fantasy-)Goth, Hamlet – Emo and Horatio – Punk (with green troll hair)

- Hamlet and Horatio had a special bro-stroke including the move of a jellyfish, roaring and hitting each others forehead

- Getrude was wearing an eyepatch (for fashion – she doffed it in the scene where she‘s speaking with her son one-to-one)

- Guldenstern and Rosencranz were melted into one character (called Guldencranz); he was wearing a mask on the side of his head and was either talking to himself or constantly confirming everything he says as though he is two persons

- during the whole play there was a sword hanged in the background over all their heads

- Hamlet was speaking nearly all the words the ghost was saying simultaneously with him

- Claudius was mispronouncing Laertes name all the time (he was calling him "Lärtes" - sounds very german) until Laertes walked into his room and kicked him on the floor compelling him to pronounce his name right

- in the scene with the flute Hamlet was not holding a flute, he was pointing a dagger at Guldencranz (still contending it is a flute)

- when Hamlet asked Polonius whether he has a daughter he was showing him the front page of a Playboy magazine

- there was a frame story: in the beginning of the play everybody was laying down dead just like in the end of the play; there were three "angels"(?) talking about the stupid humans who are making the same mistakes again and again – and as long as they don‘t chance their behaviour they stuck in this mad story; than everybody started to move and went back to the beginning (the story started). The play ended with the very same scene (ready to start the whole story again... until eternity).

- Claudius's / Hamlet's throne was inspired by Marvels Loki, Gertrude's throne was inspired by Goethe‘s Mephisto
