this was the plot of rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead. to me
Coin--
We were on a roll, the decks were stacked, The summer shone like gold on our marquee; For we could be the best casino act That prince or pauper ever came to see. See, here we are, nowhere to go but down, And gravity is always on our side, So hand in hand, we'll sink until we drown, And head to head, we'll take another ride. Ride on, you riders, through the howling wind, Whose horses feet, like dice, cut up the play; Play on, you players, through the rum and gin, The best of gamblers has to sleep someday. My heart is like a copper in your hand... How long till we no longer understand?
name one heterosexual thing about this scene
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead
i need to direct hamlet bc i need this to be the subtext of the dynamics
hamlet is in love with horatio always, this is a constant no matter who he may be in a relationship with, their codependency is the worlds worst kept secrets
horatio is only ever in love with hamlet, however does not hold himself the regard that would insight jealousy to see hamlet with another, he doesn’t see himself as entirely worthy, therefore any affection from hamlet is welcome, and again they are horrible codependent and sickeningly in love
it is important to note once more that hamlet is always in love with horatio
guildenstern and rosencrantz are not together
HOWEVER
guildenstern is hopelessly in love with rosencrantz, but is too consumed with his work to realize that, his body language and instinctive reactions should read as someone willing to die for the other.
rosencrantz is (IMPORTANT) one of hamlets ex’s, this needs to be apparent in the non verbal communication between ros and hamlet. (guildenstern is jealous of this, he does not understand why)
rosencrantz assumes that he and guildenstern are something, he is not sure what but he knows it’s something. he is content with something, he loves guildenstern and he knows this.
Ophelia is genuinely in love with hamlet, however it does stem from the product of family connections, if given the chance ophelia would fall for a women, she is also aware that hamlet will never (and could never) love her the way he does horatio, however she will elect to ignore this as she knows her role is to be the love interest
laertes and hamlet have had a will they fight or fuck dynamic since day one. yes. to both, but no one can tell when it happened, it could have been two weeks ago or two years ago. hamlet matters to laertes more than he to hamlet, both know this.
hamlet loved ophelia, he did. but it walked the very close line of platonic/romantic it would waver for him so much they he could never really distinguish it. the closest thing that could badly describe them is friends with benefits but a bit deeper.
anyways this production would also break the fourth wall and i would be doing ragad right after
Send me a plant emoji and I will reply with an annotation from my copy of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead
(I doubt that anyone will, tbh but maybe an interested ragad fan may trip over this post; don’t be shy ;)
Best Friends :)
Hamlet: This is Horatio he's so smart he's so patient he's always calm and collected. I wear him in my heart of hearts
Guildenstern: This is Rosencrantz
Guildenstern: I'm honestly not sure he has a brain
Waiting for a star to fall
And carry your heart into my arms
That's where you belong
In my arms baby, yeah
