apparently that 'dogs hate hugging' study wasn't even peer-reviewed and the data was dodgy at best, a lot of people have written it off. the best thing to do is know the signs that show a dog is stressed out and avoid hugging them if they display those signs. jake seems to actively look for hugs (headbutts your chest, armpit, neck, puts his paws on ur shoulders etc) and if anything they calm him down, he v often goes to sleep if u put ur arms around him??

ah ok, hope u dont mind me publishing this - i just remember seeing it somewhere else as well and im pretty sure my dog dislikes it (the stress yawn, looking away etc) so i assumed it was true - thank for correcting me key (jake sounds lovely)

the sky is like granite, and your hand slips on the glass as you push open the door of the gallery. scraping rain-wet hair out of your eyes, you squint around the room until you spot a familiar face- distracted, deep in conversation with someone you can’t see properly. you shiver. as you make your way over, you find your eyes drawn almost magnetically to the canvases neatly displayed along the walls. bright oranges, glossy reds and silky purples dominate the space, paint layered thickly in such a manner that the canvas seems to breathe. you realise you’ve stopped dead in front of one particularly bright dublin scene, a dublin you’ve never imagined before now, and you’re dripping cold water onto the floor. “hey, you made it!” your friend has spotted you. the stranger is here, too. “i want you to meet jess, she did all of these!” jess smiles. her eyes are a cool blue, like warm july sunlight filtering through water, and they seem to brighten as she smiles gently. her hand is warm when you shake it.
