The first time Evan had said "I love you" to Barty he had thought Barty was asleep when Barty was still conscious enough to process what he said, he paid little mind to the fact that Barty held on to him tighter after he spoke those three words. The next night Barty said he loved him back and Evans eyes flew open to stare at him in disbelief. Barty just smiled at him softly and asked if he was alright.
