EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) EPISODE VIII: THE LAST JEDI (2017)
my countdown to star wars celebration: There comes an end to every war. Someday, we’ll both be finished. [favorite scenes]
This scene is one of my absolute favorite moments in all of star wars. It literally makes me tear up every time I watch it. There is something so powerful and beautiful about the love that Luke posses, even to a man that he didn't really know and was actively hunting Luke down. But Luke had learned about who his father had been from two people that had known and had cared for Anakin. Although he may not have had the whole story, he still had that hope that his father, the once-great Jedi Anakin Skywalker, would do the right thing once more and help put an end to the darkness that plagued the galaxy.
He takes the ounce of good still left in him and destroys the Emperor out of compassion for his son.
"Together again, huh?" "Wouldn't miss it." Han & Luke & Leia in STAR WARS Original Trilogy

EPISODE 6: RESOLVE
"But why must you confront him?”
“Because there is good in him; I felt it. He won’t turn me over to the Emperor. I can save him; I can turn him back to the good side. I have to try.”
