Yesterday at Maritime Airbase De Kooy, EHKD, Den Helder Airport, the NH90 practiced with a helicopter underslung for transporting external cargoes to ships. At the same time there was also a fly-by of a F35 Lightning.

One of the advantages of this covid time is that flying exercises take place closer to home and in a rural environment. As a result, we see more local flight movements and in a more special environment.

This week the weapon instructor standardization course was taking place. During this exercise, a landing was carried out in the vicinity of the river Lek and the Amsterdam Rhine canal at a lock complex and bridges over the canal and the river.

A grand landing took place with various helicopters of the Defense Helicopter Comando.

A first time in the exercise was the participation of the recently delivered CH47F Chinook, fully CH-47F MYII CAAS. One of the first to fly in the Netherlands and the fifth generation of helicopters.
