You’ve probably heard that we’re having quite a drought in California, as well as a pretty bad fire season. I knew that the Rough Fire (currently 141,000 acres, 68% contained) in the Southern Sierra was burning close to groves of big trees near Sequoia National Park, but, until today, I didn’t realize how close the fire actually was. Here I was feeling lucky that my city hasn't been affected by any of the fires (my hometown currently has ash raining into it) and a new 40,000 acre fire popped up literally overnight around 60 miles from my city and now my city is orange and grey.
HOLY SHIT WHY IS THE MAJORITY OF CALIFORNIA LITERALLY ON FIRE. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP US.
The Rough Fire
This fire is extreme, I had never experienced seeing ashes fall from the sky as I did yesterday morning during an orange/pink sunrise in which the sun did not really shine much. Breathing has become extra difficult down in the valley. I can’t imagine what residents uphill and the firefighters feel.
