Favorite Tree: How many years has this beautiful Angophora been holding on against urban erosion - and how long can it remain? Over the years this Rough Bark Apple has been the only remnant specimen on the unnamed sidestream through Gallery Gardens reserve. Urban storm water flow volumes and velocity have exposed the powerful root structure above the shale substrate geology that is now exposed and holding ‘riffles and ponds’ made of Swamp Oak root matt. These green- engineering techniques to stabilize the stream bank erosion were planted over 20 years ago and are successful in the areas installed by the volunteer Rivercare and Bushcare initiative. #angophorafloribunda #remnanttree #urbancreek #casuarinaglauca #roughbarkapple #shale #streambankerosion #streambankrestoration #greenengineering #morningsunlight #gallerygardens #oldtoongabbie #creekbank #cantilevertree #naturegeography #parramatta #volunteer #bushcare (at Gallery Gardens) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGn4pHvjc0T/?igshid=1xbcrwyjtr5ff
