“Violence for violence’s sake is beastly. It’s the kind of thing ya come to expect from street gangs full of stupid adolescents and men who are barely adults vying for simple territory. There are no real stakes, no real gains, for them. Not really. It’s why they are so easy to use. Like stupid beasts.”
Rourke was far more plain in his speech with Loni than anyone else. Perhaps it was because she was not really human or maybe he just thought she shared his views on some things. It was probably a bit of both, though.
“We who strive for the top...we’ll we’re a different breed, you pardon the phrase.”
His smirk widened a bit after taking a healthy drink from his glass, ice clinking together as he set it back down. “Get to us and it becomes a more refined beast. More like...a collection of kings and queens circling each other like true predators constantly vying for real estate, money, product, you name it. And we can show off real power and status that actually means something. Respect and fear? One in the same sometimes, ya feel? But back to the point: what we do isn’t violence for the sake of violence. Our violence is a tool to an end, not the end itself. And along the way we can even look out for the little guy. Wolves and monsters will always stand head and shoulders above the stupid beasts.”
