omg fuck route 22
EVIL PLACE
for all you lucky bastards who have never experienced the horrors of route 22, allow me to explain.
the whole road is evil and awful but there is one absolutely batshit godawful section. it’s so bad.
imagine you are on a highway. a standard normal 2 lane highway each way. and it’s not an ultra fast high way, there’s stores on either side. you know, little strip malls, restaurants, more car dealers than you knew possible. and then you get to hell.
the road shifts. a median opens up. and suddenly, there are not just shops on either side of the road BUT ALSO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. yes, three sections of shops. THREE. and you might be thinking, well what if the store i want to go to is on the other side of the highway? worry not! there’s u turn lanes every like 200 feet! and this is new jersey, and no one can drive. it is evil and awful.
there are more accidents where people drive into the back of the car in front of them when trying to enter the road than actually on the road.
you can see here where it splits and the median starts. evil and terrible. you can also see one of the u turns at the start there. those are also evil and terrible. also i don’t think there are any traffic lights on this stretch. it’s all balls to the wall and jersey slides left right and center.

that big strip in the middle is the median. there’s u turns through the median every 200 ish feet. you can imagine how hellish this is.
everyone is trying to turn either left or right to get into a store or a parking lot or exit onto a different road. it is hell. stay away from nj route 22.
