How? I don't know, maybe Dirk intentionally set this wild domino effect of events leading Jake to love him and Jane to hate him only to reveal he was after Jane? Who knows. The way I figure it, love and hate are two sides of the same coin; they stem from the same fundamental emotion of attraction. Or maybe AI planned it from the get go? Who knows. The point is, it's my headcannon and I'm stickin' with it.

(Plus Roxy and Jake are just crazy cute enough to work, and Jane and Dirk are just too adorable not to be a thing.)
