Been a while since I started this series of oldschool anime screencaps so I figured it's high time we did another compilation of all the pictures so far~
Summary: Azula and sokka finally make a decision about Royan
Warnings: Oc, I didn't go over this, I hope it makes sense lol
Azula silently sat as she listened to sokka rant about his family. "I mean I know katara! And I know she wants Royan to have a better life, but she can't take care of another kid! She already has her hands full with Bumi and Kya! Plus she has another one on the way!" Sokka said as he poured the soup he was making into two bowls. "I just... I don't want her stressed out with aang traveling around more..." Sokka mumbled. Azula nodded, "So you want to take Royan?" Azula asked. "Yeah, her parents died in the war... and I know what that's like... I want to be there for her.." Sokka whispered.
"What about you? I know you were never big on the idea of being a mom.. but ya know..." sokka asked as he sat down beside her at the table. "I don't know...I don't want to be like my mother... but in the other hand I do..." azula muttered. Sokka waited patiently as she gather her thoughts, "She was nice when I was young... but when I got my bending... she‐" Azula muttered. "I want to be like my dad... he always seemed to have it all together, even when he didn't..." Sokka mumbled in response knowing that azula wanted to stop talking about her mother. They sat in silence eating until, Sokka chuckled to himself. "What?" Azula questioned, he shook his head. "Nothing." He giggled, she cracked a small smile. She punches his arm, "OW! OKAY! No need for violence...its just that—" He said. "That?" Azula questioned, he smiled. "You ate my whole box of mochi, that I hid in the backyard." Sokka giggled out. "I thought that was for anyone..." Azula muttered refuting to be embarrassed. "I BURIED IT, AZULA!" Sokka yelled laughing, as Azula rolled her eyes. Azula got up to leave, but Sokka pulled her back grabbing her hand, "Wait, im sorry." He giggled out. A little later they parted ways to finish their daily task before heading to bed.
Sokka chuckled thinking about the day before. "Sokka? Are you listening?" Zuko asked, as the rest of the advisors cabinet looked towards him, expect his wife. "Im alright. Im listening." Sokka mumbled, hearing the remarks from the advisors around, mostly about his background and family. He had been ignoring their remarks for months, they had calmed down during the honeymoon phase of their marriage but they had started up recently. "Alright, this meeting is over. Fire Princess Azula and Water tribe Representative Sokka, may I speak to you." Zuko said standing up and walking out. Azula and sokka walked side by side before they reached the part of the palace for the royal family to relax. "Azula, Mai wants to speak with you. Sokka, lets go somewhere else to talk." Zuko said pushing Sokka out. Azula sat down in a chair in front of Mai, "You and Sokka are planning to adopt?" Mai asked getting straight to the point. "He wants to adopt a girl in the Southern Water Tribe..." Azula said, Mai nodded. "I support you. In whatever you choose." Mai said, Azula let out a shake breath before nodding. "Thank you." Azula said, they sat in silence drinking tea.
"So, did you ask her?" Zuko questioned. Sokka sighed, throwing his head up towards the sky, "Yeah, she doesn't know what she wants to do yet... and i don't want to pressure her into anything." Sokka mumbled.
"You really love her."
"Uh, she's my wife, so..."
"Yeah, but you guys arranged your marriage."
"We? What? No, we–" Sokka stuttered trying to explain himself. "I was gonna kill you when I found out but you guys really love each other." Zuko said, sokka chuckled. "I love her, but i think she tolerates me." Sokka said, making them both laugh. "So, what did you and mai talk about?" Sokka asked as he washed the dishes. Azula tried a dish, "Nothing. What did you and zuko talk about?" Azula asked. "Nothing." Sokka mumbled.
"We don't have to adopt Royan."
"I want to meet the child."
They paused processing what the other had said. "You want to— what?" Sokka said still processing what she said. There was a knock on the door but Sokka didn't turn his eyes away from his wife. "I'll get it." Azula mumbled walking away. Sokka finished washing the dishes as Azula walked back in, "A letter, from... from– I can't read this." Azula said handing it to Sokka. He read the sloppy writing and chuckled, "it's from Royan. She sent some drawings too." Sokka mumbled.
"The next boat to the water tribe leaves tomorrow. We could go. The child seems attached to you." Azula whispered already regretting the words when sokka gave her a bear hug. In a few days they would be in the Southern Water Tribe, surrounded by Sokka's family, 'What have I gotten myself into...' Azula thought hugging sokka back, even though she absolutely did not want to.
