Summary- Baatar and his wife have been arguing ever since Kuvira was put on house arrest
Warning(s)- Fighting, head injury, Baatar Jr, copy pasted, maybe occ, I did go over this but I didn't (yk?), also spelled their names wrong..., also like redemption ark already happened, don't come after me if you don't like him just don't read it.

“Why did you marry me?” The woman said harshly, her back towards her husband. He sighed, he had a long day and now his wife was mad. What else could go wrong! “Am I just a cheap knock-off of Kuriva?” His wife said, the name hanging in the air and sending a chill down his spine. He sat up at the sound of her cold voice, he had been laying in bed. “What?! Who told you that?” He said fully waking up. “Yesterday you called me by her name, then when she got here you forgot I existed, and I've heard you say her name in your sleep every other night! I've tried to be a good wife and look past it, but I can't anymore especially since she is on house arrest now!” (Name) yelled her voice cracking though she tried to remain strong. Baatar sighed, “I called you by her name by accident. I was talking to her when you walked up, and I didn't mean to not introduce you as my wife. You two already knew each other from your time on the guard and in my mother's dance group. And me and Kuriva had a bad break up… you know this. You know I have nightmares… it's nothing more.” He said reassuringly as he got up to walk to her side of the bed. “You know I should have known, you looked so unsure on our wedding day. You kept looking around for someone. Of course it was her! Was it ever me?!” She yelled her voice, carrying an unknown chill. He had not been looking around for anyone on their wedding day, sure he was scared out of his mind but when he saw her that night his eyes rarely left her. So why would she feel that way, he thought, she was beautiful that day and got more beautiful everyday since. She stormed out of the room after the silence lasted for too long.
“Trouble in paradise?” A woman said standing in front of him. Baatar was outside sitting down by a tree, the one he usually went to when he was feeling stressed. Baatar removed his hands from in front of his face and put his glass back on to see his younger sister. “She's being ridiculous.” Baatar said as his sister gave him a pitty smile. “What happened?” Opal said sitting down beside him, he sighed and told her about their fight. She told him that they should talk about the issue, Baatar walked to the arean where he knew Wei, Wing, and his wife would be training. “Hi…” Kuriva said, walking up beside Baatar who was looking at his wife, who was beating the twins at their own game. “Hi–” Baatar said, they stared at each other which (Name) took notice too, so the twins started to catch up.”Can we talk? I know you visited me in prison and we talked but I still feel bad–” Kuriva said, stepping closer to Baatar. “You should.” Baatar said coldly, she stepped closer, “Kuriva, I’m married.” he said, she smiled sadly, her smile used to make him melt. “I just wish–...I know, I’m happy for you… and her. I want you two to live an amazing life–” Kuriva said, her statement getting cut off by a loud thud.
(Name) opened her eyes, her head hurt, bad, really bad. “Hey, sweetheart! Hey, hey, keep your eyes open. Please.” Baatar whispered as she shoved his face from directly in front of her. She sat up, and tried to stand up but fell, causing Baatar to try to catch her. “Let go, you lying cheating– the world is spinning.” (Name) said pushing Baatar away causing the twins to catch her. “You need to go to the hospital.” Wei said as he and Wing helped her stand. “They're right, that disc hit you really hard.” Kuriva said, because Baatar was in shock that his wife had pushed him away when she needed help. “I don’t want to hear a word from you—” (Name) said before she started to black out again. They eventually managed to get (Name) the help she needed, and they found out that she had a concussion. The twins kept apologizing but (Name) told them that it was her fault for being distracted by her lying cheating husband and his mistress. “Don’t talk about her like that.” Baatar said in Kurvia’s defence causing the tension in the room to rise. “This is our fight and you don’t need to bring anyone else into it.” Baatar said, putting down a tray on their bedside that had things the doctor said she would need. “She is the problem, Baatar! You and her. Why can’t you see that!” (Name) said angrily as the twins and Kuriva slowly backed out of the room. “She has been here for two days! What could we have possibly done!” He said his voice was rising despite how hard he was trying to stay calm. “You sent her letters everyday, and they haven’t stopped. You visited her three days before we got married. You two played out your entire life together so, I’m sorry that I feel threatened by her being in the same house as us.” (Name) said her voice mellowing out to a cold hurt voice that was filled with pain. His breath stopped, how did she find out about that, they hadn’t done anything wrong but he didn’t want her to find out about them. Kuriva and the twins had stuck out right before the words left her mouth, so Baatar just stared at his wife as the tears silently rolled down her face. “(Name)...” he muttered, trying to reach for her but she quickly turned over. “Just go.” She whispered, throwing the covers over her head, sure she was being childish but– she didn’t have an excuse, she just didn’t want to act like an adult, she was hurt.
“I mean of course she’s mad about the letters and the visits! But none of it was romantic! It was platonic. I love (Name). And yes, when I visited you right before our wedding, I was having second thoughts, but that was because I thought I wasn’t the right person for her, and not because I was still in love with you. I love her. The letters that we wrote were mostly about how I could be a better husband to her! And I guess they were romantic at the beginning but that was before me and (Name) started talking… I don’t want to hurt her, I love her so much.” Baatar rambled off to Kuriva because he hadn’t told anyone else but his aunt Lin about the visits and letters. He sat down in a chair and put his head on the dining room table. “Well, you said that you loved her three times already. You really need to tell her all this.” Kuriva said, he muttered something about (Name) being mad at him. Good thing for Baatar, he and Kuriva had always had a relationship that pushed each other, so here he was two days later, Kuriva shoved Baatar into the same room where his wife had been relaxing. The room had a couch which was turned towards the windows so that she could look outside since she still had to rest for a few more days but she could continue her normal life. “(Name)... can we talk?” Baatar said as she sat up so that he could sit down beside her, "I'm sorry about not telling you I was in contact with Kuriva… me and her are just friends, more like acquaintances. I- I just needed her advice on some things, I don’t know how you found out, but if you read her reptiles you would have seen that we talked about you. When I visited her I needed her advice on me, as a boyfriend and a fiancee. Me and Kuriva had our problems… before she tried to kill me.” Baatar ramblemed off, (Name) looked at him.
“I understand if you don’t forgive me, I should have talked to you first. Just let me know when you’re ready to talk.”
Baatar got up and slowly walked out of the room, he was at the door when she called his name. “I think I’m ready to talk now.” (Name) whispered, he turned around trying to hold back his tears.
Summary- Maybe this will be an actual fic with Mako, maybe… First comes love then comes marriage then explaining to your friends and family why you didn’t tell them you had a wife
Warning(s)- I forgot what happened in TLOK and now I'm trying to write about it… and spun a wheel because I couldn’t decide on the plot…. Also I went over this (I think?) but there are still probably some mistakes. If ooc let me know, pls. Death, crying?

She sighed as she continued to shuffle through her students’ papers. “Cute.” her boyfriend said looking down at the work in front of her, it was a drawing one of her students had made of the Avatar. “Yeah, they were supposed to draw their hero. Here, this one is you.” She chuckled, handing him the paper as he stared at it in disbelief. He chuckled, “She got my scarf, very good attention to detail…” Mako said the drawing was obviously done by a 6-year-old but it was still pretty good. (Name) volunteered at a school from time to time. “You finished packing yet?” He asked, noticing her two suitcases by the door and one still half full.
“Almost done, I just need to grab some other things but I'll be done by the time my father arrives.” She said she was going back to the fire nation for 3 months for her sister's wedding. She was sad to leave Mako for so long but she was also very excited for the wedding. A few hours had passed and her father had arrived to take her home. “Just be careful…” She whispered as she hugged Mako tightly. They said their goodbyes and they didn't see each other again until after Kuvira's attack.
Now here she was in his kitchen. He opened the door to find that she had stress cleaned… again. He sighed, sure he didn’t mind having a clean apartment, but seeing her like this hurt a lot more. She had moved into his apartment after the attack because her apartment building was destroyed in the chaos. “Hey, beautiful…” He said soothingly as she continued to thoroughly and aggressively wash the dishes. “Hello.” She muttered holding a plate up before continuing to scrub it. “Panda…” He called her affectedly, it was a nickname she had gained as a child which her older sister had been overly happy to tell Mako. Her stoic face cracked into a smile at the name then quickly faded, “You almost died… and I wasn’t here…” She mumbled before he could ask her what was wrong. She dried her hands off then hugged him, “I didn’t want you here…It was better that you were safe in the fire nation with your family.” He replied, returning her hug tightly. “I love you so much…” He whispered, he had made up his mind, this was the woman he would marry someday. Better yet, today. “So, I was thinking… you have that pretty white dress and I have my work uniform…” Mako said relenting her from their hug, she nodded trying to figure out where he was going with this. “You moved in here a month ago, you made Bolin’s old room your own and you added your own spin to the apartment… You made my house feel like home again is what I'm saying…” Mako said, romantic speeches were not his thing. He held her hands as she waited for the rest of his speech, “I would like it if you don’t move back out after your apartment is fixed.” He said, she didn’t like where this speech was going, she would have never moved in with him if not for the attack.
“Mako… you know I don’t—” She started but he shook his head. “I know. That’s why I think we should get married. Today, if you're up for it.” He whispered as she stood in shock. “Seriously?” She asked, she loved him and she wanted to say yes but she couldn’t help but have her doubts. “Seriously.” Mako confirmed.
Now they sat in a young judge's office, “You owe me.” Mako said as the judge sighed. “That’s one way to greet an old friend…” The man replied, sounding fatigued and offended. (Name) chuckling at their interaction, the man got up to grab the paper work from outside of his office and told them that he would be back soon. They had gone when the office was getting ready to close. “You really think we should do this, because we cried about you almost dying?” She asked. “I think we should do this because you are a smart and caring person. What happened today only pushed me to ask you— And you cried.” Mako said, (Name) laughed at his response. The man walked back into the room, and the young couple’s conversation ended. “So, let’s get you two married.” The man said, flipping through some paper work. The time flew by, the couple now stood hand and hand, “I do.” (Name) whispered. “I now pronounce Mr. and Mrs. Mako is a jerk. Now get out.” The man said, as the young couple kissed, “I said out. Not kiss. Go.” He shooed them. She held Mako's hand as they walked home, she wondered if she would regret marrying him which was her first sign that she didn’t leave unnoticed. (Name)’s doubts were soon silent as the days went on and he was proving more and more that they had actually made a good decision.
Those days turned into months and the city was being rebuilt nicely with new inventions all over. Their marriage was okay but they argued more and more, soon her doubts were resurfacing. When she found out the news that they were expecting, they had gotten into a bad fight the day before and were currently not on speaking terms. “You're being childish—” Mako complained as she slammed the door in his face, she sat down on their bed, what were they even fighting over? She couldn’t remember, but he hurt her and she hurt him. The phone rang, she picked it up unaware that Mako had done the same in the front room. It was her doctor’s office calling to remind her of the appointment for her regarding her pregnancy, there was a thud in the other room. She chose to ignore the sound and hung up the phone before rolling over in bed, then there were more thuds as if something kept falling. (Name) heard the thud get closer and closer until there was rapid knocking on the door, she put a pillow over her head and tried to fall asleep. She huffed not being able to get and sleep with the knocking so she got up to open the door. “What is so important?!” She yelled while opening the door, she froze seeing the look on her husband’s face before he fell again, “MAKO!” she shouted.
Mako woke up to the scent of flowers which he quickly concluded that it was his wife, he turned his head to see (Name) sitting beside him on the floor. He didn’t know how long he had been out for but that didn't matter because she was crying. “I'm sorry about not telling you sooner and I'm sorry about our fight… I was in the wrong and I acted childish after. I should have talked it out.” She whispered softly as he sat up and rubbed his head. “I'm sorry you felt the need to fight about it. Again…” He said referring to how he had separated (Name) from all the rest of his friends and family. (Name) didn't take too kindly to the fact he still hadn't told them about her after being married for almost 3 months. She hugged him tightly, as he remembered what had happened for him to hit his head. “Im gonna be a dad…” He whispered, she chuckled as she let him go. “Yeah…you are…” She whispered, rubbing his face gently, he put his hands over hers. He held her close as he realized the amount of people he still had to introduce her too.
The next day, she was making breakfast, and Mako walked up behind her to hug her. It was a normal morning, they talked and laughed. They went off to work, and he continued his day like normal. He was in Lin’s office discussing his most recent cases when someone walked in to tell Mako that a hospital was on the phone. “So…when were you going to tell us about your wife?” Lin asked Mako as they sat in the waiting room of the hospital. He sat nervously waiting, he didn’t know what could have happened or why it happened. “Kid. She’ll be okay.” Lin said, he nodded as his leg shook up and down anxiously. It felt like years before they were allowed to go and see (Name). “Non-gestational ovarian choriocarcinoma…” She whispered, staring at a wall. “What– What is that?” Mako asked as tears slowly slid down her face. “Cancer.” She whispered, he was sitting on the side of her bed. She had passed out during work, so she was brought to the hospital and after further testing they found out she was not pregnant. “The surgery is in a few days then I start chemo…” (Name) mumbled as she started to sob. He tried to reach out for her, but he couldn't seem to move. Lin waited outside, trying to ignore the sobs that ceased after a while.
“Hey, kid…” Lin mumbled as Mako closed the door behind him. “She's…uh… sleeping.” Mako muttered, he was out of it, Lin noted. “Kid, maybe take the day off…” Lin suggested, he shook his head no. “Her treatment is probably going to be expensive…” He whispered, he got through the day but it passed by in a blink. “Hey…” He mumbled, walking into her hospital room and closing the door. She made eye contact with him, before she sat up a bit. “Hi…” (Name) mumbled, as he walked over and hugged her. “We are gonna get through this.” He whispered for them both. “Yeah..” She whispered back, holding him tighter.
Her surgery went smoothly as well as her first round of chemo, “You look amazing” Mako said as she looked at her shaved head. “It'll grow back… what do you think?” He said gently, she had been crying when she realized she would need to shave her head. “I think I have a really nice head shape, huh.” She mumbled, causing them both to laugh. “It looks great, thank you.” She said getting up to hug him despite the hair all over her. Mako hugged her tightly, he didn’t want the moment to end, but it did. The next few months went by smoothly. She was getting more tired as the days went on but they said that was normal due to the chemo.
“Mako, my chest hurts…” she whispered, rubbing her chest, Mako sat on the bed beside her. It was 10 o'clock at night, Mako had just worked a late shift and had gotten back home to find his wife struggling to breathe. She coughed, hard. And she continued all the way until they got to the hospital. She struggled to breathe and the coughing was not helping, Mako didn’t know what to do or how to help her, so he held her hand until they were separated so she could be treated.
She huffed.
(Name) watched Mako slowly fade away as she was pushed away in a wheelchair.
She huffed.
(Name) watched while the nurses rushed around her.
She huffed.
(Name) watched as the doctor and nurses whispered about her condition.
She huffed. She huffed. She huffed.
She stopped huffing.
“What…” Mako whispered, his voice cracked. “Hey bro… you okay?” Bolin asked, putting his hand on his brother's shoulder. “Yeah- uh… no…” Mako admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “It's just that… it's been almost a year since (Name) died… and I just‐” Mako said his brother nodded sitting down on the coach near his brother. Bolin handed Mako the picture of (Name) that he had picked up, “I wish I met her.” Bolin said as Mako stared at her picture and agreed with his brother. “How did she…?” Bolin asked because he had only attended the funeral and was too scared to ask then. “Cancer. It was aggressive and spread to her lungs… we didn’t know that the chemo had stopped working… She kept saying that she was tired and that it was hard to breathe. But they said that can be normal for the type of cancer she had and it would go away when she had finished chemo.” Mako said hold back whatever tears he had left in him. “She was so happy when she thought she was pregnant, she nicknamed the baby lightning bug because she thought they would have been a fire bender.” Mako said the tears were finally winning and sliding down his face.
I don't really remember what happened do correct me if i say something wrong.
So, why do people hate on Pema?
Like i feel like it is better that Tenzin broke up with Lin to get with Pema, instead of forcing Lin to get married and have kids she didn't want. Like putting Lin in Pema's spot like the stay-at-home-mom thing probably would have made her miserable. And not to mention how many kids she had (like bro 😭), I say Lin would have like two kids (like Toph, but i feel she would be better).
And don't get me wrong I can see it being Pema stole Tenzin but I personally haven't seen any Tenzin hate. Why just Pema? It isn't just her fault, Tenzin could have just rejected her.
I feel like Tenzin saw their lives going two different ways like Lin was probably super focused on her career and didn't want kids at the time (Tenzin probably felt the need to carry on his father's legacy as the last airbender (get it?). I also saw somewhere that Pema and Tenzin were friends and she had a crush on him (I think?). So he broke up with Lin to get with Pema? I personally find that better than cheating (especially with how much they all had to see each other).
(Also, like Pema and Lin teaming up to make fun of Tenzin???)
Overall, I can see why people hate Pema but if you're going to hate on her, you should also maybe be hating on Tenzin too. But I lowkey like their family rn and can't hate Pema, but I also really like Lin.
So take this with a grain of salt (Also, if your going to make comments, be respectful or I'll probably just delete it. But I do want other people's opinions).
Also like what if Lin and Pema had a talk about it... Mhmmnmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Not my pictures but I put it together and I don't like it...
Summary- No one approves of their marriage and Desna is starting to agree with them.
Warning(s)- Another tester to see how this copy paste thing works. Also one of my first time writing for Desna, so tell me if anyone is ooc.
She huffed as she reapplied her makeup. Korra knocked on the door, "Hey..." she whispered. "Hey." (Name) said, as she plotted on her bed and Korra joined her. "I heard about your fight with your parents..." Korra said, as (Name) sighed. "Yeah, they don't approve of my engagement to desna...but it doesn't matter, we are still getting married next month." (Name) said determined. Korra sighed, this talk was going to be harder than she thought. Korra and (Name) had been friends since they were kids but (Name) hadn't met Desna and Eska until 3 months ago. (Name)'s parents obviously didn't approve, and then they announced their engagement last night.
“Seriously, Korra? You too? I thought you would be on my side!" (Name) said standing.
"I am on your side! Just not his..."
"Well, I'm on his side."
"You don't know him." Korra said, trying to reason with (Name). "I love Desna." (Name) said firmly crossing her arms. "You've known him for 3 months. You are not ready." Korra said. "You don’t get to make that choice for me.” (Name) said, Korra huffed. “I just want you to think about this.” Korra said, getting up to leave. (Name) sat back down on her bed, Desna and Eska had gone back to the Northern Water Tribe earlier that morning so she was defending their engagement all by herself. So many people were telling her it was a bad idea. She was starting to think that maybe they were right… No, she loved him and he loved her.
A few months later she sat in her wedding dress as Kya helped her put the ceremonial jewelry in her hair. (Name) picked the jewelry because it was traditionally from the North Water Tribe with a more subtle vibe that went well with her dark blue dress. “It’s not too late to back out of this.” Kya said as they looked at (Name) in the mirror. “I'm not backing out of this Kya. I love him.” (Name) said adjusting her dress. “That is what you are telling yourself to justify pushing yourself into this marriage.” Kya stated, (Name) turned around to look at Kya. “I can see that you love him, the last time you looked at something the way you look at him was when I brought Fire Flakes back from the Fire Nation.” (Name) chuckled before Kya continued, “But I can also see that you are not ready to get married. Not yet.” Kya finished and left (Name) to think.
There was a knock at the door, “Come in.” She said, (Name) smiled at the sight of Desna. “Hey, you…” She whispered as he walked closer to her. ‘Beautiful…’ he thought, the love of his life, the only person he could talk to when he couldn’t talk to Eska but that was rare. “What’s wrong?” she asked as he grabbed her hands gently like he was afraid. “Your father came to talk to me…” Desna said, as her smile slowly started to fade. “I don’t think… I don’t think we should go through with this.” Desna mumbled.
“Desna… don’t do this to me…” she whispered tearfully.
“I don’t want to be the reason you are unhappy for the rest of your life because of me.”
They slowly fell to the ground and he held her as she sobbed into his chest. “I- i can't lose you…” She said sitting up but falling back into his chest as he held her tighter. “A few more minutes…” He mumbled, she could hear his uneven breathing. “Are you crying…?” she asked, she never seen him cry before. She sat up and gently held his face, “Desna…” she whispered, wiping his tears that slowly fell down his unchanged face. “Goodbye, (Name).” He whispered before kissing her softly, she sat on the floor in disbelief. Then he was gone, out of her life. On their wedding day. The tears slowly fell on the dress she was wearing, Kya found her on the floor sobbing and tried to comfort her.
That was 10 years ago. She looked at the man standing before her today, he was much different than the man she had fallen for years ago. “Desna, you look great for a 30 year old man.” She teased. His face didn't change, but she could tell he thought she was funny. ‘Cuz she was, or at least that's what she told herself. “Are those your little ones?” She asked, seeing the three children standing behind him like Russian nesting dolls. “Yes.” He said plainly, only the youngest son looked like him. (Name) assumed the daughters took after their mother. “Your wife?” (Name) asked because she didn't see any one else with them. “Stayed behind with Eska.” He said. “Mom, dad is looking for you.” A little girl called out from behind (Name). “Alright, I'll be there in a minute!” (Name) said as the child ran away to relay the message to her father. “I'll see you around Desna.” (Name) said before turning around to leave.
They had been perfect for each other, but just not at the time. And the heartbreak would stay with them, as if that last goodbye never left their mouths.

She was young, dumb, and heartbroken. Then she met a fire nation man, and eloped thinking she was in love. It was very out of character for her but she needed a change. She looked in the mirror, her hand gently touching her scars. She didn't have family to go to, her ex-husband was on his way back to the fire nation with their new born daughter. Maybe she was wrong to push him away, to tell herself it was a mistake, to tell herself that her daughter would be fine. Both her and her ex needed to focus on their jobs and they couldn't do that while trying to hide a marriage from the public. If word got out about them, their families would hear and that was the last thing either of them needed.
Lin sat thinking over her decision as her daughter walked slamming the door behind her. The executor sighed as Lin stiffened at the sight of her fully grown daughter. "Let's get this over." Malaya, Lin's only child said. "Now, before we start he has a message for the two of you." The executor said, before clearing his throat. "Malaya, my dear, we knew this was coming just not this soon..." The executor looked up as Malaya cleared her throat, she was trying to hold back her tears but it was obviously not working. "Lady Malaya, if you need–" A woman who was off to the side stepped up, trying to comfort her. Malaya sniffed, "I'm okay. Continue." She said harshly. "...That is why I want you to spend some time with Lin, your mother. You haven't seen her since you were 5. But she loves you, and so do I, and I do not want you to stay mad at the world for my death—" The executor said getting cut off by Malaya who asked him to skip to the money part, she was tired of the sad stuff. "In summary, you and your mother will split the money but Malaya you get all of the business and things as well as all the money made from them. Later, losers" The executor said, Lin chuckled a little. Her ex-husband was always unserious.
Lin and Malaya got up at the same time. "It was uh... nice to see you... mother–" Malaya said the last word feeling foreign in her mouth. "You as well... daughter." Lin said, they nodded to each other before heading their separate ways. They wouldn't see each other for months but after all of the fighting that had gone down in Republic City, Malaya found the urge to check on her mother. Something her father said about bonding or whatever.
She walked up to her mother's door, "This is such a bad idea..." Malaya muttered her hand in the air about to knock on the door. The girl standing behind her knocked on the door loudly. Malaya turned around angrily, "You were never gonna do it!" Zola said, her earthy eyes burning with excitement of meeting the Lin Beifong. Except it wasn't Lin who opened the door, it was another woman who shared similar features to Malaya's mother.
“Uh, hi... does Lin Beifong live here?" Malaya questioned, even though she was almost positive this was the exact same place she visited as a child. "She does, but she is not home right now... Can I take a message?" The woman asked. "Uh, just tell her Malaya came by... and to–uh– call me... I just wanted to check in... on her. Yeah. Thank you." Malaya said awkwardly. Zola squeaked as Malaya dragged her away, "DOYOUKNOWWHOTHATWAS?!" Zola yelled as they walked down the street. "What?" Malaya asked confused but not stopping. "THAT WAS SUYIN BEIFONG! THE SUYIN BEIFONG!" Zola yelled jumping up and down. "So?" Malaya asked still not getting the point. "Your aunt! The one who built an entire city!" Zola said mildly offended.
"My what? I have an aunt?" Malaya asked, Zola stood in shock for a second. They stared at each other for a beat before crossing the street and continuing down the road to a newly opened shop. Malaya opened the door to her flower shop and set up as Zola informed her on her own family history. "Oh, I only know about my family on my dad's side." Malaya said shrugging, growing up her grandparents thought it was best if she didn't know anything about her mother and her father was always away on business to protest. The last thing she had from her mother that her grandparents didn't take away was her earth bending. Her father being a fire bender didn't know how to teach her the traditional ways, so she bended more like a firebender and had been teaching herself how to metal bend.
"Hey, ready to work ma'am!" A boy said entering the shop saluting Malaya. She giggled and saluted back, "Alright, I'll be back at five, just don't burn the place to the ground." Malaya said before she left the two to tend to the flower shop. She spent the day exploring the city and checking on the rest of her father's business. Malaya stood in front of the police station looking up at the statue of her grandmother. There was a lot she didn't know about her family and she was here to learn about them. After her father's death her aunt, on her father's side, gave Malaya all of her parents' things that her father had kept. That included their letters, that was what mostly convinced her to give her mother a chance. A chance that she wasn't sure Lin even wanted.
She started to head back to her flower shop as she caught the attention of two women. "That was the girl, Malaya, I think. I guess she really wants to talk to you." Suyin said as Lin's eyes stayed fixated on the girl carelessly walking down the street. "Hey!" Malaya said, opening the door to find Zola talking to two men. "If she likes green you could get her these Green Hydrangeas or if you want to make a statement you can give her these peonies! Oh! Or you can keep it simple and give her roses!" Zola said that was the reason Malaya hired Zola. She was able to connect with the customers, but the other man who had a red scarf was getting annoyed by the man Zola was helping. "Can I help you sir?" Malaya asked, noticing the shift in the man's eyes but to ignore it. That day both men left with flowers, one for his girlfriend and the other just left with flowers. Malaya told herself it was just because she was a great saleswoman and not because their eyes were hooked on each other. The next day she was a little upset to have not received any form of communication from her mother, but she still had to work.
Business was slow that day, so she rearranged some things in the store. A little later the same man from yesterday walked into the store. "Hi, your back?" Malaya said, noticing the excitement in her voice which confused her. "Uh, yeah... I wanted to get some flowers for some friends... they've been going through a lot lately..." he whispered, losing track of his thoughts when she looked at him. "That's really sweet. Uh, do you know what they would like?" She asked, he nodded and picked out flowers. "So, what's your name?" He asked, she chuckled and pointed at her name tag the read Malaya, she had finished making his first bouquet then asked him his name. "Mako." He replied, his eyes following her every movement. "That's a lovely name, Mako." She said a light smile forming on her face. "So, how long have you lived here?" She asked, and he gave her a simple answer, not telling her too much about his childhood. "What about you?" Mako asked, and she finished his last bouquet. "I grew up in the fire nation with my dad and my mom lived here. My dad... he uh... died a few months ago, and his last wish was for me to bond with my mother." Malaya said, looking down sadly, before handing him the last bouquet.
"Uh, would you like to... hang out or something sometime...?" Mako asked, he was tongue tied around her, he dated the Avatar for crying out loud, why was he losing his cool now? She chuckled, "like a date?" Malaya asked, he nodded. She smiled as she wrote down her number on a piece of paper and handed it to him. She opened the door for him because he didn't have any free hands. He was her last customer, so she closed up shop and was walking home. She walked up to the police station again to look at the statue, maybe some day she would meet the woman if she wasn't already dead. "Malaya? What are you doing here?" Lin asked, she didn't know how to interact with her daughter yet. "Mother... I don't want father to haunt me, so I thought we should bond." Malaya said they stood in silence for a while before Malaya asked her mother to go out for coffee.
"Why didn't you tell me I had an aunt and uncle? Or cousins?" Malaya asked to get straight to the point after they had gotten their coffee. "I wasn't on the best terms with Su, your aunt, back then. We are better now." Lin said she knew her daughter had questions. "Are you in college?" Lin asked, Malaya was not the only one with questions. "Yeah, I'm going to be a lawyer... like dad." Malaya said confidently, before continuing she took a sip of coffee. "I hope to meet my husband the same way you met dad." Malaya whispered shyly, that was something she mostly kept to herself. "You know except for the getting divorced part but.... why did you two get divorced? Dad told me you never had any bad fights." Malaya questioned. Lin took a deep breath, "I got with your father because my ex-boyfriend was getting married and... I guess he was also going through a hard time and we found comfort in each other... and then I found myself married and pregnant." Lin sighed, before continuing, "We broke up, because we were going too fast... and we grew apart. After I found the courage to see him again... he was getting married." Lin stopped noticing her daughter's facial expression shift.
"He never married her. Grandmother arranged the marriage. Neither of them showed up to the wedding, she eloped with another man and father stayed with me. We colored pictures of dragons. Mine was traditionally red and his–" she chuckled sadly, "–His was yellow, I said there was no such thing and he told me that I didn't know that for sure. We spent the rest of the day reading about dragons well...until my grandparents got home." Malaya said her eyes never left her coffee as tears slowly fell. Lin didn't know what to do, she had faced so much these past few months and was even a babysitter a few times but her own child's tears cut like a knife.
“But he loved us… more than anything. Or at least that's what he said…” Malaya whispered as if it were almost a wish. “THAT'S THE FLOWERSHOP GIRL MAKO ASKED OUT?!” A woman yelled before covering her mouth. Malaya wiped her tears, as Lin turned to see Bolin and Korra. Lin sighed, people were going to find out about Malaya some day but first she had a problem to address. “Mako asked you out?” Lin asked, knowing his past history with women. “Uh, yeah… you know him?” Malaya said as Korra and Bolin shuffled over. “So…Who is this Lin?” Korra asked. Malaya prepared herself for her mother's excuse as to why they were there, her mother had hidden her for 20 years after all.
“My daughter.”
She sounded almost proud Malaya thought. Maybe, they could become Mother and Daughter. And not Mother and Daughter.

Author's note: Yeah, idk…. Umm, Lin is cool so she kinda took focus on the whole thing but uh…maybe next time it'll be Mako or not, who knows. Also doesn't look like any of the font changes I made copied over but I do not want to go back through so... and the spaces in-between the paragraphs are a lot bigger than on the other app....
Summary: Azula and sokka finally make a decision about Royan
Warnings: Oc, I didn't go over this, I hope it makes sense lol
Azula silently sat as she listened to sokka rant about his family. "I mean I know katara! And I know she wants Royan to have a better life, but she can't take care of another kid! She already has her hands full with Bumi and Kya! Plus she has another one on the way!" Sokka said as he poured the soup he was making into two bowls. "I just... I don't want her stressed out with aang traveling around more..." Sokka mumbled. Azula nodded, "So you want to take Royan?" Azula asked. "Yeah, her parents died in the war... and I know what that's like... I want to be there for her.." Sokka whispered.
"What about you? I know you were never big on the idea of being a mom.. but ya know..." sokka asked as he sat down beside her at the table. "I don't know...I don't want to be like my mother... but in the other hand I do..." azula muttered. Sokka waited patiently as she gather her thoughts, "She was nice when I was young... but when I got my bending... she‐" Azula muttered. "I want to be like my dad... he always seemed to have it all together, even when he didn't..." Sokka mumbled in response knowing that azula wanted to stop talking about her mother. They sat in silence eating until, Sokka chuckled to himself. "What?" Azula questioned, he shook his head. "Nothing." He giggled, she cracked a small smile. She punches his arm, "OW! OKAY! No need for violence...its just that—" He said. "That?" Azula questioned, he smiled. "You ate my whole box of mochi, that I hid in the backyard." Sokka giggled out. "I thought that was for anyone..." Azula muttered refuting to be embarrassed. "I BURIED IT, AZULA!" Sokka yelled laughing, as Azula rolled her eyes. Azula got up to leave, but Sokka pulled her back grabbing her hand, "Wait, im sorry." He giggled out. A little later they parted ways to finish their daily task before heading to bed.
Sokka chuckled thinking about the day before. "Sokka? Are you listening?" Zuko asked, as the rest of the advisors cabinet looked towards him, expect his wife. "Im alright. Im listening." Sokka mumbled, hearing the remarks from the advisors around, mostly about his background and family. He had been ignoring their remarks for months, they had calmed down during the honeymoon phase of their marriage but they had started up recently. "Alright, this meeting is over. Fire Princess Azula and Water tribe Representative Sokka, may I speak to you." Zuko said standing up and walking out. Azula and sokka walked side by side before they reached the part of the palace for the royal family to relax. "Azula, Mai wants to speak with you. Sokka, lets go somewhere else to talk." Zuko said pushing Sokka out. Azula sat down in a chair in front of Mai, "You and Sokka are planning to adopt?" Mai asked getting straight to the point. "He wants to adopt a girl in the Southern Water Tribe..." Azula said, Mai nodded. "I support you. In whatever you choose." Mai said, Azula let out a shake breath before nodding. "Thank you." Azula said, they sat in silence drinking tea.
"So, did you ask her?" Zuko questioned. Sokka sighed, throwing his head up towards the sky, "Yeah, she doesn't know what she wants to do yet... and i don't want to pressure her into anything." Sokka mumbled.
"You really love her."
"Uh, she's my wife, so..."
"Yeah, but you guys arranged your marriage."
"We? What? No, we–" Sokka stuttered trying to explain himself. "I was gonna kill you when I found out but you guys really love each other." Zuko said, sokka chuckled. "I love her, but i think she tolerates me." Sokka said, making them both laugh. "So, what did you and mai talk about?" Sokka asked as he washed the dishes. Azula tried a dish, "Nothing. What did you and zuko talk about?" Azula asked. "Nothing." Sokka mumbled.
"We don't have to adopt Royan."
"I want to meet the child."
They paused processing what the other had said. "You want to— what?" Sokka said still processing what she said. There was a knock on the door but Sokka didn't turn his eyes away from his wife. "I'll get it." Azula mumbled walking away. Sokka finished washing the dishes as Azula walked back in, "A letter, from... from– I can't read this." Azula said handing it to Sokka. He read the sloppy writing and chuckled, "it's from Royan. She sent some drawings too." Sokka mumbled.
"The next boat to the water tribe leaves tomorrow. We could go. The child seems attached to you." Azula whispered already regretting the words when sokka gave her a bear hug. In a few days they would be in the Southern Water Tribe, surrounded by Sokka's family, 'What have I gotten myself into...' Azula thought hugging sokka back, even though she absolutely did not want to.
