Jaydick - Ship It (of course)

What made you ship it?

Would you believe me if I said Batman & Robin (2009) 😂 I think that might have been the first comic I read with Jason and (despite how bad it was) I was hooked on their dynamic. They're so messy and complicated. The way they want the other to understand them, but they don't know how to reach out in a way the other accepts. Like when Dick said something about 'I've tried to help you but I can't anymore' I'm just screaming like 'noooo! you didn't!! not in a way Jason could understand!!' So I love exploring the messiness of that, but I also like imagining what could happen if they do learn to understand each other better.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

The versatility! Their dynamic is so complex that there's a large range of sweet to toxic (or a mix of both) that works well for them

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I mean, Jaydick is such a large ship with varied opinions so anything I have to say about them would be popular and unpopular depending on the circle. I do have a weird thing where I'm squicked by Dick subbing for Jason. I don't know why, usually I'm very versatile in my ship dynamics, but when it comes to Jason and Dick I can't do it 😅 Love all my fellow Jaydick shippers though regardless!

Why don’t you ship it?

I've only read Slade in New Teen Titans and while I like him, he's not likely to be my favorite character and a Jason ship without Dick tends to be reserved for only my favoritest of characters.

2. What would have made you like it?

Add Dick in there?

3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

It's a really interesting ship! I understand the appeal of their dynamic, even if it's not my personal preference. And I love how Jason gets shipped with people that were originally associated with Dick

What made you ship it?

All the anti-JayRoy people 😂 Them constantly complaining about how Roy is Dick's friend made me go 'well, have you considered Jason and Roy hook up as a way to feel close to Dick and then slowly begin to fall in love with the other for who they are as a person outside of their relation to Dick?' and then of course we add Dick in there bc I don't do a lot of shipping of Jason without Dick.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

The jealousy (for any of the three) and trying to live up to a legacy/expectations you'll never achieve (mostly Jason, but sometimes Roy). They're not getting together in a healthy manner, but it turns into something sweet along the way.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Okay, my big secret is that I got off on the wrong foot with a certain child character that is associated with Roy, so while I understand why said character gets included, I don't like them as part of their dynamic 😬
