Washington had to hold in a laugh when Grif gawked at him. He covered his mouth sniffling it as much as he could trying not to upset the man, but the stunned look he gave was just so funny. He eventually got his reaction reeled in however, clearing his throat soon after. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me." He said with a grin ignoring his food for now.
He hummed in thought with Grif's opinions about Agent Pennsylvania. No one in Freelancer really seemed to know much about the guy. Just various rumors he and there. Most of them weren't very flattering. "Like I said. He's away a lot, and they're all solo missions. You're probably the only one here that's actually seen the guy in action." He offered. "His place on the leader board is abysmal, meaning his success rate and performance during missions is terrible, most likely. CT told me he was sent here after a failed mission that got his whole team killed, so there's that too." Washington caught himself and waved his hand. "But... Those are just the rumors and hear-say around here. I have no idea what's true and whats not. So take it with a grain of salt I guess." He shrugged his shoulders leaving it at that as he continued his meal while listening to Grif grumble about the wrongs he'd endured.
"You sure he tattled? Did you say something to him cause PFL records everything through our helmets. All the higher ups have to do is review the footage. Probably something you should watch out for in the furture. Just so ypu know." Washington cautioned the new agent. The veterans here already new that information but the don't often share it with the rookies. Washington had found out the hard way himself. He was surely doing Grif a favor by telling him this.

Price stoped and turned around with Texas' comments, leaving Penn to continue on without him. His face pasted with the professional smile he always wore. "I'm unsure what your insinuating, Agent Texas." He feigned ignorance. "What happened to the others was nothing more than." He paused. "An unfortunate and regrettable accident." He continued in that professional but friendly tone.
"Ah, yes. I hear, the new agent is doing quite well in the training exercises." Price said as he seemed to browse through his datapad, the light of the screen reflecting off his eyes as he scrolled.
"While what you say is true. We do encourage competition here, but Agent Pennsylvania..." He paused again shutting down the datapad for now and redirecting his gaze to Texas. "Is a special case. You should steer clear of him. In the future." He warned again while turning to continue on down the hallway. Penn wasn't supposed to get better he didn't need to they were using the Spartan as a means to an end. Penn would gather what they needed and then be a loose end that would conveniently tie itself up... With some help of course.
I do! I am! I'm- I'm scared, I'm scared of you sometimes, terrified, even, and- and I never tell you, but...
He hugged him tighter, almost squeezing him, burying his face in to him too.
...I'm scared of losing you more.
He held him close, trembling too. More out of pain... And of fear... There's a lot going through his head that he can't say out loud. Not with his current mindset. But that's fine.
...right now, it isn't about him.
And that's okay.

Beauty and the Beast

[Mystic stared at Aimer, waiting for him to say something, but then the beast turned and left.
Now alone in the massiveness of the room—it was probably as big as the whole lower ground floor of his house back at the village—Mystic walked backwards into the bed and plopped down on the edge of the mattress.]
Haa…
[He brought his hand up and stared at the mark forever imprinted into his skin. Just the thought of that made him cringe.
Well, now that he was trapped in an enchanted castle with a beast guarding it, maybe he would be lucky enough to have a Prince Charming on the way—as if he were the main character of his favorite book. Yeah, right.]
I’m such an idiot.
[A rattling on the other side of the room made him straighten up, startled. He looked around, suddenly remembering Convoitise’s words: Almost everything in this castle had come to life. Did that mean there was something in this room as well?]
Um… hello?

Kitt instinctively kept her arms securely around the Shadow’s neck as the two began to prepare themselves for a hard landing. Shutting her eyes to protect them from debris, the felinoid could hear and feel the snapping and ripping as they crashed through a sea of branches. Though she couldn’t tell that some of those noises were coming from Drensi’s injured wing, she could still feel the tension in his muscles a he braced them for impact.
However, Kitt suddenly felt his grip on her loosen. Opening her eyes, she watched as they had gotten fairly close to the ground. She then gasped in surprise as Drensi let her drop a few feet to the ground before he ended up smacking into a tree a few yards away. He crumpled to the ground in a heap of wings, leaves, and branches.
With a soft grunt, the cat woman landed hard on her side. She knew she was going to feel that tomorrow. Carefully sitting up, Kitt shook her head to clear it and looked over to where the Shadow had landed. It was somewhere in the cluster of gnarled trees close by. Gritting her teeth, she slowly but steadily tried to get up. It seems much of her left side was banged and bruised pretty good. But, she can’t think about that now. She knew Drensi got the brunt of the fall and was in most need of help.
Once she had gotten up, the felinoid winced as she gently cradled her arm and made her way towards the injured Shadow. The small journey would take several minutes, but it felt a lot longer at her pace. Walking through the prickly and dry cluster of branches, Kitt would brush and push her way through them as she made her way towards Drensi.
It wasn’t long before she saw where the trees and ground had been disturbed. The broken tree bits and drag marks along the ground had created a trail right to where he laid. But as Kitt got closer, she would soon see that he wasn’t alone.
Her eyes widened in shock before narrowing in absolute anger. Quickening her pace, she ignored the pain she was feeling and began to break into a small run towards the Slayer. Just as she had summoned up her cane, she would see him notice her and call out to her.
As Kitt approached, she would see the syringe in the Slayer’s hand, but it looked empty. With that, Kitt could only do what she was capable of doing in her current state. Using her good shoulder, she grits her teeth and manages to ram into him like a rugby player away from Drensi. She knew that there wasn’t much she could do at the moment, but she had to try.
“Wh..What do ya think you’re .. doin’ with that?” she demanded the Slayer as she gestured to the needle he was holding. The cat woman was panting hard due to her injuries and the energy she had already spent.

“Southshore? Hmmm,” Olivia hummed thoughtfully as she considered the question a moment longer.
“I lived with my Aunt just a bit further north before I moved south. She had a logging estate between Dalaran, well the crater anyway, and Ambermill. It was nestled in the foothills,” she sighed wistfully. “I miss it terribly. Unfortunately, it became unfriendly to live that far north, so she sent me away. I chose Stormwind because I thought there would be the most opportunities here.”
She fell to silence, reflecting on memories as the Director opened the door. She glanced to the fireplace and nodded, taking a seat there and crossing her legs at the knee. She gazed around the office as she waited, mild interest and amusement coloring her features.
“What took you to Southshore from Gilneas? If you don’t mind me asking,” Olivia asked once Kat had returned.
