Mokuba had just fallen silent, staring at Nick with wide, fearful eyes while Seto paused in the notes that he had been taking, gazing down at the notebook he held, unwilling to meet his brother or Nick’s gaze at that moment in time. He wasn’t sure how to even describe the feeling that had suddenly come over him. It felt as though this had to be some kind of sick joke, right? Was this just the worlds way of punishing him for past mistakes? Keep placing people within his life to slowly grow close to - only to then rip them away at the last moment? He blinked, pen slowly moving as he took down the last few words that had been spoke. Wasn’t expected to live… he could change that. He was already so close to defeating death once…what was a second go? He could do it. If anyone could then it would be him. He frowned and glanced at his phone for a few seconds. The silence to fill the air was too tense, too heavy and Seto found himself wishing to flee. But that wouldn’t be fair on Mokuba… “I see”, he muttered softly, attempting to hide the bitterness in his throat, only for it to instead sound as though his voice was breaking near the end, his head beginning to hurt as he thought over all the possible methods to use in order to tackle the mess that was suddenly before him, “…But we have no idea of what age you happen to be at the moment”, he frowned slightly as he studied Nick once more. It was difficult to determine his biological age - for he certainty looked as though he was well over the age of eighteen. “W-we have better medicine and things here”, Mokuba whispered softly, Seto flinching slightly as he noticed that his brother was crying “W-we can fix it… we can fix you…” “Mokuba….”“No! Nick’s family now! We…we can do something about this!”, he broke out into full sobs before turning and fleeing from the room, Seto sighing as he slowly got to his own feet. “…He’ll be alright with some time. I really do wish that you had told this to me sooner. But Mokuba is correct. We have advance technology…there may be something that we can do… maybe”. He frowned and ran a hand through his hair. This was what that bastard had spoken about. Letting people too close only meant more pain once they left. He should have learned that lesson when Atem had passed back to the afterlife - yet here he was again. Caring once more only to lose it all in the matter of a year? Even less? Who knew? But perhaps his research would be rather useful now.
