Might be an unpopular opinion, but as a f1 fic writer, the whole "guess fan stories" challenge Ferrari released kind of makes me uncomfortable...!

Like, can we please keep fanfic, especially rpf fanfic, as far away from the people concerned please? If they decide to go looking by some mordid curiosity, fine, we cannot control that, but there is no need to shove it in their face...

I really hope the sm team invented stuff and didn't go through actually existing fanfic on ao3... bc while the exemples used were tame, it would break pretty much all of ao3/rpf etiquette rules and we don't need to bring back attention on rpf existence on main...

i feel like a part of the "rpf of real children" conversation that often goes unstated is how often the people writing those are, in fact, children. if you want it to be illegal you need to confront the idea that you would be putting random horny kids in juvie or jail. and personally I don't think the tina belchers of the world deserve to have their lives ruined for publishing their scribblings about wanting to touch butts with whoever this generation's disney obsession is. yes, it's fucking creepy, especially when the author is an adult. Yes, it's all fiction so it doesn't really matter. but let us not forget that we are largely talking about some 12 year old speed-typing on her mom's computer in incognito mode.

The first person I ever met who wrote RPF was a girl in my class who wrote band RPF and she certainly didn't care what age the members of the band were.

She was 16, a neglected foster child, and was having a very hard time in life. When she wasn't writing rpf, she was doing hookups with random guys online and inviting them to her house. This was in 2003.

Most of the people writing these things are kids who have more shit going on than anyone wants to deal with. And on top of that they want to make their writing illegal?

If you make writing taboo fanfiction/fiction a crime, you're going to be criminalizing a lot of kids and troubled people.

But honestly I think that's what a lot of the people who want to control fiction want. They want to lock up the people who don't think like them and get them out of their sight.

some of the takes i see about hudcon are so baffling and then i remember that not everyone has been in rpf intensive and/or parasocially intensive fandoms, so they don’t know the etiquette. but on the other hand it does feel like common fucking sense to not pass around a revenge clip posted by some clout chaser i don’t think you should need a parasocial bootcamp to get that one

Sorry but how on earth am I seeing people saying Georgia shouldn't speak out about this, and that she can't, just because both couples leaned into it?

I mean sure, maybe not everyone on Twitter has seen the absolute mess that is some of the RPF here on Tumblr, but c'mon. If there's anyone that's allowed to complain, I believe the literal wife of the concerned actor can.

I literally saw someone on Twitter trying to argue that Georgia couldn't complain because she leaned into it happily, and that she can't "unplug the narrative" or something like that because David and Michael do it on their own, and that same person just posted Michael and David moments as proofs.

SHE'S HIS WIFE. SHE RECEIVES CONSTANT SCRUTINY AND HATE JUST BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE WANT HER STRAIGHT HUSBAND WITH A FRIEND OF HIS.

I genuinely cannot believe that there are some fans that will look at this and say "well, she had it coming >:(". How parasocial are you? You don't know them!

Somehow people can guess and interpret a whole affair just because David and Michael speak well of each other and banter, and they won't consider it parasocial, but if we put forward the fact David said multiple times Georgia was good for him, how much he loves her and everything she does for him, then we're the parasocial ones? I know it may seem insane, but I sometimes literally received those answers just because I defended Georgia.

"you don't know her", of course I don't, I never claimed to! But excuse me if I'd rather trust David's literal words over speculations between friends that like to joke around...?

Anyways, sorry for the little rant, but it's precisely why I start to interact less with the fandom. I blocked every creepy RPF content I could (I know not all RPF are toxic though I never liked it, but I wouldn't like to generalise a whole community), and yet it's always there, and some times it's also used just to hate on women. Like... What the hell?
