Around the new year I began prepping and plotting for a new fantasy setting that I’ll eventually use in my next RPG campaign. Since then, I’ve been getting closer to the actualization of this new campaign from two directions: I’ve been writing bit by bit, but also the game I

RPG prep time! I’m getting ready for a campaign of White Mountain Rescue, so I’ve got:

A campaign notepad with a “the mountains are calling” sticker. Secret things are recorded within.

Blank index cards for clues.

Printed index card-sized location & mystery cards.

Sleeved tarot-sized move cards.

Reformatted playbooks.

A Mystery Board with sections for the mystery, the missing person, spots for a clock for scenes and an order of play.

Little leaf tokens for the clock and to hand over to folks when they owe me a flashback.

An index of NPC cards with different actors on them. Yes, David Umbargo is played by Tom from Succession.

DLR California Ghoul Rush Prep 2

Damn, seems like I counted my chickens before they hatched. I got the minimum number of players to join yesterday, but one of them was already forced to cancel. Still, that was the fastest I’ve ever gotten players to respond and agree on a date. Normally I have to use thongs to get a proper answer, and even the cancellations are made right before the game.

DLR: California Ghoul Rush Prep

I managed to get a group together for a Deadlands Reloaded oneshot. I haven’t actually written any custom scenarios for a while now, so I hope this goes well. The players will be facing a ghost rock prospector using necromancy to beat his competition. I’ll try to remember to recap on Friday or on Saturday. I’ve been waiting to scratch this GM itch for so long!
