i want to get a job writing RPG supplements. I already have some experience under my belt. sure the editing may be horrendous (selling the thing in it’s current state would be absurd, even if I actually had the rights to the copyrighted materials I used), but I think I did a good job writing up the class descriptions and tables, and writing flavor text. hell, the things might actually be balanced.
unfortunately, when I checked the Wizards of the Coast website, they didn’t have any jobs for noobs anywhere near me. *sigh*
i’ve been working service and education jobs since high school, it might be a good change of pace to have an office job for once.
FATE Extra: Mecha Subsystem
By virtue of being a main focus of the genre, mecha are treated as a pseudo-player character.
Mecha get 3 aspects all their own: the “Function” aspect, the “Flaw” aspect, and the “Free” aspect. The “Function” aspect describes the advantages of the mecha, the “Flaw” aspect encompasses the possible disadvantages with the mecha, and the “Free” aspect can denote anything else about the mecha whether it's equipment, history, materials, etc. They can be invoked and compelled like character aspects and use your character's FATE point pool.
Mecha receive 5 benefits to be used as stunt effects: weapon ratings, armor rating, consequences*, bonuses on rolls, and skill substitutions. For every benefit beyond 5 applied to the mecha, the GM gets to add a FATE point to their GM FATE pool. Players can also associate a weakness and/or a cost with a benefit to lower the amount of extra FATE points your GM would receive.
SKILL TRAPPING ADDITION: Pilot
The Pilot skill now affects the Mecha Stress Track. Ratings of Average and Fair result in gaining a 3-point stress box. Ratings of Good and Great result in gaining a 4-point stress box. Superb ratings and above grant an additional mild consequence. This slot can only be used for harm to a piloted mecha.
Mecha Consequences*
By default, Mecha start with one mild consequence separate from the player consequences. Players can spend benefits to gain additional consequences, up to a maximum of 3. 1 benefit adds a moderate consequence, 2 benefits adds a severe consequence, and 3 benefits adds an extreme consequence. (Separate consequences are primarily for corvette scaled mecha. Anything below Roadstriker scale uses player consequences.)
