Hey, I've been off tumblr and the forums for a while. I noticed the forums are down and i can't find out why, did anything happen?

Tumblr user officialguertena doxxed an innocent person with information pulled from the forum.

Vanitas, the operator, created the forum to avoid that drama, so she had to close it.

So pinkie, what do you think of the new RPG maker forums?

Not much: they’ve just got started.  I have an account there, but I try to restrain myself from posting much.  

I think if we keep passing around the link once a month, or at least put it in clear view on some of our blogs, we can have a healthy cycle of members.  I also think if the forum don’t run out of things to talk about, it’ll be fine.  Apparently it’s the first RPG Maker fandom forum rather than just RPG Maker development community forum, so it both fits a niche need without being too overly specialized like the YN Fangame Developers forums.  

Although, depending on whether or not we keep getting more games we like, the forum could be dead in a few years.  Not a certainty, just a possibility: I used to like Naruto in middle school but I cycled out of that fandom in 2 years.  If it keeps growing & people outside of tumblr start to join, a forum name change might be in order to show that you can be on w/o having a tumblr.  

Like with all internet discussions, there will be drama eventually.  The forum will cross that bridge when they get there.

Why be upset at something you can’t control?  Uboachan’s always been mean. It’s how they operate.  Calm down bro, other people’s opinions shouldn’t cause you to stress like that.  :v

What do I think of the forum or what do I think of Uboachan?  I got another ask that ask me about the forum, so I will answer there.  But Uboachan: they exist.  There’s good, ok, & bad people on it like any other Imageboard.  Like tumblr, part of the time they can give thoughtful responses & have good points.  I do understand what one person means about programmers/scripters vs eventers.  I think that’s a fair point.  

The RPG community on tumblr & Uboachan tend to differ more in attitudes: tumblr tends to put emphasis on respecting the feelings of others (which can lead to passive aggressive insults & trying to shift the blame on others) vs putting all their feelings out there clean on the table (which can be useful in critique but then that damn GIFT comes around and people sulk away never wanting to make a game again).  I think Uboachan has more users versed in the ye old RPG Maker Community than Tumblr, or at least the ratio of Newbie to Old Fart is greater her than there.  Also, Uboachan just likes to dick with people for fun, so that’s something.  

It’s only terrible because there’s barely anyone there & a few of the louder ones can be elitist about game making.  And, you know, the GIFT theory.
