The YN/RPG fandom on here ought not be freaking out considering how there are plenty more forums in the sea which are specifically dedicated to these topics. It might be a good thing overall, as the YN fandom hasn't been super active lately. Why not try out Uboachan to quench your thirst? For Mado?
You’re not wrong. However, if you want to advertise your game aside from niche areas, you’re stuck either on the pain in the butt layout of Facebook, tweeting small updates on Twitter, or hoping Google picks up your wordpress/blogspot/whatever on it’s search when someone types in “New games”. They can be used wisely, but you know, sucks when one site you could organize things with tags & make longpost goes down in popularity.
I’m not sure if Uboachan is right for a lot of users as while it’s a chill chan board, a lot of tumblr users are too normie to post there, whether it’s being driven off by the format or driven off by the harsher speech of chan boards (tumblr’s mean too but the two userbases would clash to say the least, and I’m certain you know why). Uboachan is also pretty dead, there’s maybe like 5-10 active users with the rest being lurkers, and a lot of devs of more recent have left them for other sites. Hell, the people who would be comfortable using Uboachan here on tumblr probably lurk or post there (or the discord, which is somewhat separate from ubuu) already. Basically I’m gonna assume more people are gonna hide out on Reddit or other fan communities before they go back to uboachan. Besides, I know a few devs who used to post on uboachan and decided not to go back so I don’t think you’re gonna win them over either OTL
If you do want to help out with translating things or any of Uboachan’s other cool projects, now’s always a good time to help. It’s also a good place if you just enjoy chan stuff, or don’t mind brutally honest opinions on things you make (or shitposting). Up to you guys! :0
Uboachan found out about the jam and is getting pretty upset about it. Should we be worried? Right now I'm scared that they're going to flood it with a load of garbage troll entries.
Uboachan has maybe 10-15 active members on it who don’t care enough to make a dumb game to mess with people - they’re probably just gonna grumble or not care and not do much else. Maybe they’ll just continue to complain about any game released for the jam and maybe others will be like “hey some of these are cool” but I’m not worried in the slightest. There’s no point to doing it honestly.
Anyone who post on uboachan is free to enter the jam, as long as they play by the rules. If we get a game or two (because there are only 10-15 people on uboachan) we’ll just delete it and maybe talk about it a little but mostly ignore it. They won’t cause anyone harm for the most part, they’re just enjoying complaining basically.
Also! I saw that a few posters on Uboachan were mad at the “Keep the game rated M” rule and one or two thought that meant no gore or disturbing stuff, which I find a bit weird considering M-rated games like God of War, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead all have violence & gore (and some allusions to sexual things). Basically I just don’t want any direct sexual content, and you can post it outside of the game jam but not in it itself imagine the leasure suit larry of fangames .
So I’m not worried in the slightest. Let them enjoy themselves over there while we enjoy ourselves over here. If we get any direct weening over in the chat, the blog, the twitter, & the jam entries, all we have to do is boot ‘em.
Uboachan has now a new official “owner”
I thought it’d be cool to say something about this, after many years of service as the head admin of Uboachan, Seisatsu decided to take a break and now the boards will be managed by Writer. Sei will still be part of the staff, though.
The reasons for this were clear, the boards were kind of out of control because of continuous waves of new posters ranging from incels to frogs and wizards bringing multiple forms of hostility and racism.
Needless to say, this was stressful for Sei, he was definitely not perfect, but he did his best and worked really hard.
Even though I don’t post there now for similar reasons I made my first steps as developer in Uboachan and my team was born there, and our translations team is still hosted in there. I wish the best of luck to Writer and I hope he guides the site to a more chill place.

I finished commission number 2 and I learned a lesson... Never EVER post furry commission art you got paid to make or bring up being disabled in the uboa chan discord "a yume nikki discord I was in" I just got blasted a bunch of curse combos that used the F-word that isn't four letters long and the N word. Joy. I think i will stick to just posting my yume nikki cosplays there and stick to the nicer discord that likes my commision art... Well, I liked this swarm of meanness better than when I had a chunk of A twitch chat make fun of me for being a disabled cosplayer with my plant effect cosplay. That broke me for like a month
here is a link to the offending art: http://ebroxas72.tumblr.com/post/172847463445/commision-art-for-my-good-friend-sapphirewuffy96
This is still the funniest opening to a thread I've ever seen.
