Since I often come across a few of my friends who get confused using the RPThreadTracker made by Rosalind aka Tumblr user @blackjackkent, I decided to create a comprehensive post with notes on what to keep in mind when using the website! Do keep in mind, there it an actual video that Rosalind has made explaining how RPTT works on top of notes appearing when click on the boxes for tracking new threads, but more often than not they all tend to be overlooked (tsk tsk! just kidding I’m a victim of that as well).
That said, here’s a comprehensive list (under the cut to prevent clutter) on what to keep in mind when using RPTT! (〃` ヮ ´〃)ﾉｼ
To track a new thread, all you really need is the post ID from its URL.
EX: https://embi-thesinner.tumblr.com/post/168993943224/oh-look-its-embis-shitstorm-of-a-bio --- post ID is in bold
Everything else is just to make things easier for you to navigate/search through RPTT better and thus isn’t required to be labeled similarly to how you label your threads in Tumblr, including the Watch For section.
When it comes to RP threads with multiple RP partners involved, it’s easiest to track who the last poster is by simply leaving the Watch For section empty --- the thread will be marked as ‘Your Turn’, of course, but unless you have an order in the thread it’s nothing to worry about!
This is why I regard the Watch For section as not required since, in the end, the site labels the thread Your Turn regardless who it’s watching so long as it isn’t your reply.
RPTT does not update the blogs you add into its roster or request to watch --- if you or your partners change your blog names, you’ll need to manually update them on RPTT as well.
You can only track threads from your own posts --- trying to add threads through someone else’s post will not work.
This is mainly due to how RPTT will only track from the blogs you add into its roster (which, by the way, is a godsend for those running multiple RP blogs like me), so be sure to keep track of your own blog names added to RPTT’s roster!
When it comes to tracking threads from multiple RP partners with the same origin (like, say, an open starter that they all reblogged from), then the easiest solution is to start your tracking from the reply you make after they reply to the origin/‘starter’.
If you try to track from the starter/origin itself, then you will be unable to use that starter’s post ID again for the next RP partner. Apparently you can only track a post ID once, otherwise, it alerts you that you’ve been tracking this ID already.
RPTT also has a Chrome extension! Using it allows you to instantly track new threads straight from the post --- just make sure that you open the post on a separate tab/window to do so. Doing it from the dash or Tumblr’s fancy ‘side-view’ of the blog/post won’t work.

Wipe down your cage bars often !!! You would be suprised at how quickly pee (and poo) will get caked on ! This will definitely help reduce smell if you find that no matter how often you clean the cage still stinks
